The lights always went out at nine.

She couldn’t tell time as well as the other kids in the district, but only having the ability to see out of one eye would do that to you. She had been told constantly that she would never aspire to be like her sisters. She would not be able to train like the others.

She always wanted to try though. 

Being born blind in one eye though made it hard for her to even keep up with the kids that weren’t meant to be careers. She did not possess a hyper vision like everyone thought she did. Her senses were heightened, but not enough to hear someone behind her, or even five feet from her.

She had always been treated differently.

But she found enjoyment in gardening, a weird thing to do in a place like two, but the abundance of materials made it easy to cultivate a multitude of plants that aren’t commonly seen. Roses and Daffodils had always been her favorite, but Lilies had always been her task. The air in two had never been the right amount of tempered to successfully grow what she thought to be the rarest flower.

They called her the flower girl, and she wore that name proudly.

Maybe one day she would figure out a way to grow the flower of her dreams.
