"Do you remember my name, huh?
Or do you see a stranger
when you look at my face?
'Cause (Do you remember?)"
Tate was being a stubborn fuckhead again.
Nothing new there, but it sent Teddy running out the door, slamming it hard behind him with a good kick. He could do that now if he wanted, he could just run and since he'd had his first taste of that freedom he'd never really let it go.
There was an itch beneath his skin, a want for everything all at once after so many years of having nothing. Sometimes that meant he did stupid shit and sometimes that meant Tate yelled at him, whatever, he was done listening to him. Yeah he was older but he didn't know everything and Teddy knew what he was doing, for the most part. He didn't need Tate breathing down his neck, making him look bad in front of the guys.
His feet took him further than usual and it wasn't long before he found himself on the path that led along the river. His family used to spend hot summer days there together but that was many years ago before his mom had died. Teddy'd gotten too sick after that, his brothers too busy.
The sun was hot on his neck, sweat dripped down his back so Teddy pushed through a familiar side path. He was expecting an empty bit of riverbank to lay on and a pretty good swimming spot, but someone was already there.
He stopped in his tracks, a hand already hooked under his shirt to pull it over his head. He knew the kid sitting there, paintbrushes in hand, but he hadn't ever really expected to see him again.
"Holy Shit, Ty Adroxis, huh?" he said with a grin, "Guess it's my lucky day."
