It has been approximately four days, three hours, and twenty-six minutes since Scarlett Stroms's fist crushed Brooke Destin's skull. The funeral is done, and her body has been laid to rest in the ground. It was all so fast — it seems like just yesterday, Brooke was here with her, sitting on the docks as the sea breeze blew through her hair.
They used to come here all the time; Isobel has gravitated towards the docks ever since Brooke left for the Capitol. Since she died, Isobel has been staring into the dark water, imagining it swallowing her up. It almost did once during the floods, but Arissa saved her.
The docks are a short walk from her and Arissa's house. She isn't surprised when she hears someone approach and turns to see that it's her sister. Arissa knows she likes to come here to think, and she's been disappearing to this place more frequently since the Reaping.
"Guess it was pretty obvious where I went," Isobel says. She turns back to face the water and the fog that drifts over the horizon.
