He’d picked the fluffiest pink dress he could find. The heels were just as bright, and tall, hitting almost the 12-inch mark as he strutted his way down the driveway and to the Gala. Gold glitter lined his eyes, lips embraced by a pink a slightly less bright tone then his dress. The earrings he wore were long, made of cold and brushed against the straps on his shoulders. His hair was pulled back, neat and controlled, allowing for no one to miss the hard work he had put into his makeup.

The clutch in his hands was pink, glittering beads lining the material as he tucked it under his armpit. The security officers at the entrance looked him over, asked him for his name, and beckoned him inside. He felt good; confident, and capable of taking on anyone who stood in his way. He was ready, to take his seat and work for the people he had spent his life helping. The games had been one step into that world, but he wanted to do more.

The Capitol needed a council that was fair, where kindness could reign supreme, whilst still maintaining a strict and demanding environment. He wanted to make a place where the Capitolites could feel safe, where they could grow and come out stronger under careful guidance.

The districts needed maintenance; strict control that allowed for the Capitol to keep a strong, commanding hand on them. The answer to that problem was not cruelty, it was not starving them or beating them down. Paul wanted to achieve it through kindness. By creating a link between the districts and Capitol where they could rely on one another. Perhaps, if they mended this bridge, the games might be able to end, and they might be able to live in harmony.

It was a nice thing to think about.

Paul glanced around the Gala, eyes searching for a familiar face, he spotted Cadence not far off and headed in her direction. A waiter walked past, a tray of champagne in their hands. Paul grabbed a glass, sipping on it as he made his way through the growing crowd. A voice called his name, and his head turned to the side-

Bam.

He smacked right into Sardonyx, stumbling a step back as he looked up at her. “Ah, Sardonyx, that was my fault, sorry,” he said, fingers clutching his glass as he wiped messily at the little bit he had spilled on his beautiful dress.

He looked her up and down an admiring expression on his face. She looked incredible, but then, Paul had never seen her not look unforgettable. She was a wonderful lady, and one of the women he admired when it came to fashion.

“You look absolutely incredible, my dear,” he nodded, smiling at her with kindness. "How have you been, darling?"
