I said what they thought that I wasn't gonna say I did what they thought that I wasn't gonna do I knew what they really not want me to know, I'm Unpredictable
Mum and Dad lived such boring, predictable lifestyles.
If you were to follow them for a day you would see that they never strayed from the norm. Waking up in the morning to breakfast, a kiss on the cheek, before going their pirate ways for work. Coming home at night to dinner and shared stories of the days events. They often told me that growing up meant finding your routine, which in other words meant: become boring.
But I was determine to not let the day to day events of life take me into its current. I would not get stuck in the synchronised cycle of work eat sleep and play.
I would dare to be different.
I would be different.
Coin in hand I stand on the edge of the cliff, salt kissed wind whipping through my hair. Looking down I see the gentle pull and crash of waves against the cliff face. This was a common place for those who enjoyed the thrill of cliff diving. It was a reckless sport, and an adrenaline junkies dream. I would not lie and say I was not scared, that the thought of leaping off this cliff into the water below didn't have me wanting to run in the opposite direction...
But beneath that fear was excitement at the anticipation of doing something utterly terrifying.
Taking a deep breath I flip the coin.
Heads(1) I jump.
Tails(2) I run.
Letting out a shake breath I had not realised I had been holding, I take one last look at the cliff before turning away, shamefully relieved by the coin's choice.
