I can't. I can't take his sincerity because his shoulders are hunched and we're both bleeding and the worst thing about this is that I can't even be mad at him for any of this. Isn't it better to die at the hands of those you trust than someone else who is out to get you? 

"I'm sorry, too," I say, and I mean it, mostly. I wince again into the sunlight, cracking my neck as his spear glances off my ribs and its almost comical the way this is drawn out. "Just, stab better or something!"
