Solace is a commodity best served in solitude, at least for the quieter tributes. For Garrison? He enjoys the company and the laughter that can distract from everything else. In fact, there isn't a bone in his body that isn't itching for at least a few friends in this place. He'd even settle for one.
But, as always, it's the weapons that are his allies just now, and they're not the most talkative bunch. Unless you smash them against each other, the only voices you'll hear are imaginary. It's safe to assume if that's the case, you're not going to last as long as the rest.
With tributes getting to know each other left, right and centre, Garrison thinks it may serve to play the waiting game, at least for now. See who comes his way. He's already made some enemies, so clearly his approach isn't working. Maybe, it's because he's a career.
They don't air this part of the Games, at least not fully. The mingling, the awkward interactions, the privilege some tributes hold over the others.
Just wait until we're in there, he thinks, looking safely into the reflection of throwing knife's blade.
In that small element of solace, Garrison thinks on what advice he'd want to be given right now. It's not great being a career. Everybody has an eye on you for whatever reason they choose. Some, like you're meat. Most, that you're a threat. Fewer, that you're an asset, at least for now. So, what he really needs is a change of career.
Then, he turns, and the unexpected happens.
