Name: Bubby Caro
District: Four
Age: Sixteen??
I must say, your District made quite the splash at the Tribute Parade. Tell us what you were feeling up there! Confident, nervous, excited?
“Um, uh.. haha.. I had never, um, worn anything like that before uh.. I mean, I had used it.... For fishing. But the mask was kind of choking me. And not a lot of people have seen my body. I wasn’t exactly comfortable. But I mean, Sailor worked so hard on it, so I appreciate it. I just, would never wear it again. Haha”
How confident do you feel about the games now that you've seen your Training Score?
If it’s 2-5: “Honestly, that’s what I expected. A lot of people back in four are prepared for this. But, it’s never what I wanted. I’m just a kid.”
6-8: “I was shocked! There’s no way I could have imagined that! I don’t know what they saw in me, because I’m not exactly good at a whole lot.”
9-12: There’s no way Bubby got a 9-12. You’re lying.
What about the other tributes? Intimidating? Interesting? Irritating?
“Mostly intimidating. I’ve made a few friends, but honestly that’s not really a good thing. Um, uh.. Yeah, there’s some really scary ones out there.”
*Sweats in Mauve*
What has impressed you most about the Capitol since you've been here?
The air. It so much heavier than the air back home. It’s just as windy, but in four the air kind of flows with you. Here, it pushes against you. And it smells different.”
Tell us what a typical day in your shoes is like back home. Do you work? Do you have any hobbies or secret talents?
“Shoes? Hardly. Some people hate the sand being everywhere, but I like it. It’s felt weird to not feel it between my toes here. I’m starting to forget what it feels like. But yes, I’m a fisherman back home. And I’m pretty good at it!! And, don’t ask me to show you, but I’ve been learning to dance the last year or so. But I have two left feet!”
What about romance? Cute as you are, I bet there is someone back home waiting, right?
“Yes, there is. Someone I care about very much. But, things are complicated, and I’m not even talking about the games. But I love him with all my heart.”
*Cries in Alistair*
And your family. Sensitive subject, I'm sure, but... could you tell us about them?
“They love me a lot. My father works for the Capitol actually. He’s in charge of making sure the train leaves on time and the right quantity of supplies are accounted for. My mother thinks the world of me. And my sister.. um.. She’s strong.”
I want to know: What is it that you'll be fighting for in that arena? What is it you want to get back home to?
“My family. My boyfriend. I want to see them all again.”
I'm afraid we're almost out of time. Parting words to the crowd? The tributes? Your friends and family back home?
“Um... Uh.. Well, you know what they say.. May the odds.”
