No New Posts The Cornucopia

Upon a bed of sand sits the golden horn that shimmers in the light of the tropical sun, a beacon to tributes just dying for a chance to reach in and explore its bounty. Though the same size and shape, this horn of plenty differs from all others in the past because instead of the typical woven pattern etched into the sides, this has a myriad of nautical creatures carved into it. Looking closely, you can see golden whales, dolphins, jellyfish, and sharks - but odds are some other tribute will sneak up behind you before you can get that near.

No New Posts The Beach

A large portion of the arena is a sprawling expanse of perfect sand, occasionally blowing with the sea breeze but usually completely still. Rolling blue waves crash onto its shores, creating a seemingly flawless summer paradise. But smart tributes will realize that this beautiful beach offers no source of concealment - none whatsoever.

No New Posts Palm Tree Forest

To the right of the Cornucopia sits an area of lush foliage, densely packed with majestic tropical palm trees. Clustered on some are bunches of coconuts; on others, bananas. Though these are a far cry from the type of trees most of the tributes are used to, this is a forest nonetheless, providing essential firewood, plants, and most importantly, hiding places. But what else could be hiding in here as well?

No New Posts Cove

A small section of land where the beach meets the palm forest bends inward, forming a small, secluded cove. The water here is calm and serene, much calmer than the churning waves farther out; a perfect place to relax and go for a swim. Palm trees litter the area more sparsely than in the forest, but enough to offer some sort of cover. The cove seems like the perfect place to be - but spending too much time here could prove disastrous.

No New Posts Shell Room

The room on the left side of the majestic sandcastle has walls packed tightly with sand, but these walls are lined with an assortment of different colored seashells. You can try, but these shells won’t come off of the walls, no matter how hard you pull. If you really must have one, you’re better off taking from the various piles on the floor, but try and make sure there aren’t any sneaky creatures hiding in there first, ready to bite off your fingers.

No New Posts Seaweed Room

Only accessible by passing through one of the other two rooms, the seaweed room sits right in the middle of the sandcastle. Here, clusters of seaweed seem to grow out of the sandy floor as they only do at the bottom of the ocean. Green strands of it snake up the walls like vines, adorning the room in sea green and producing a rather rotten, salty smell. The seaweed room isn’t a particularly appealing place, but then again, maybe a crafty tribute can find a use for all those weeds.

No New Posts Driftwood Room

he driftwood room on the right side of the sandcastle is rather like a disorganized maze. Huge chunks of driftwood are scattered on the ground like trees, some with protruding branches, ranging in color from dark brown to sickly greyish-white. Though it may not burn as well as regular wood, this driftwood could be enormously useful in starting much-needed fires. But use it sparingly, for clearly there is a limited supply.

No New Posts The Ocean

The ocean in the 61st arena is both a place of life and a place of death. On some days it is calm and inviting, full of fish to catch and eat, and should you be able to purify it, it provides an endless source of essential water. But on other days, its waves crash harshly and menacingly, and deadly creatures lie in wait, biding their time until an unsuspecting tribute will swim through their territory. Beware the ocean, for it is not always what it seems.

No New Posts Sunken Ship

Not too very far from the shore lies a half-sunken ship, run aground on a sandbar so that a large portion of it still remains above the water. The Jolly Roger flying from its sideways mast proves all too clearly that it had once belonged to pirates before it had sunk. Barnacles line its decaying wooden sides, and the glass in much of the portholes has cracked and floated away. It seems an uninviting place at first, but should you be able to cross the ocean and reach it, you might find yourself with an invaluable place of refuge.
