Fear.
I felt fear as I left the bloodbath finally. My adrenaline was slowly washing away and my bloodlust with it. Now every sound was something that wanted to kill me. Every blow of the wind was a tribute coming nearer. Every movement, every shadow was something to be terrified of. Was this how Six felt? Or Winger? I kept telling myself I'd be different, that I'd win. And yet, here I was, scared.
Not far from the cornucopia I found a spot to sit and try to regain my composure. I felt the tightness in my chest start up. A warning. A warning I needed to tale head of. The ground here was sandy, but I didn't mind it. I didn't mind how close I was to the fence blocking in the moat either. I was just happy I was finally outside again. It felt like being in Eleven in a weird way. So much space, yet a fence to remind you that you have to follow rules.
Blood from my nose was still dripping onto the sand, and I had an idea of what was going on. It wasn't the best case scenario, but my axe was the most reflective thing I had. I looked at my reflection and saw my nose bent. And I knew how to fix it from Cain breaking my nose in a fight once. You re-break it correctly this time. So I took a deep breath, summoned up all of my courage, and straightened up my nose the best I could.
I decided to look around a little and found some scattered items, maybe leftovers from the cornucopia. Some food, antibiotics, a knife, an antidote, and ammo. The water looked murky and drinking it seemed like a painful and slow way to die. And just like that, my prayers were answered. TWO silver parachutes began to drop towards me. I examined the first. All it had was a red bandana, but I didn't mind it too much. Keeps the hair out of my eyes.
As for the second? The second had two items, an empty canteen and some duct tape. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the duct tape, but I sure as Hell wasn't complaining about it now. Hey, maybe getting a score of nine helps. Or maybe someone just thought it would be funny to randomly send me duct tape. Regardless, I decided to keep it. I'll take anything I can get really.
I got closer to whatever water I could find and filled up my new canteen. From there I plopped in one of the iodine tablets and put the lid back on. Drinking now would be stupid, really. Before I could even be tempted to eat or drink I quickly put both the canteen and the lunchables in my backpack. And then, I heard the unmistable sound of footsteps so I grabbed my axe, keeping my knife in reach as well, and got ready to fight. I was terrified, but fear lets you kill.
