The heat of the dunes crept on her, but Sinead was too occupied by the shear beauty of the dunes to caution each of her footsteps. The vast landscape - although dangerous and frankly, was making her sweat quite a bit - brought her a calming feeling, the beauty luring her in like a siren.

It's call serenaded her to her doom - in the form of a misplaced footstep right into a patch of steaming ground, searing her skin and sending fire straight to her nervous system. Sinead yelped as she quickly pulled her foot away - but the damage was already done, and a large, patchy welt remained on the back of her calf. The burn had broken the skin raw - leaving it vulnerable to the conditions around her.

"Fuck!" she shouted, as she sat down on a cooled patch of ground and analyzed her calf. This is why I shouldn't have wandered off alone, this is why-

A figure was walking towards her.

A male figure.

And it wasn't Whiskey.

Sinead quickly ignored the sharp pain rising through her calf and gripped her bow, pointing it toward the unidentified figure. It shook with her anxiety - she wasn't ready to maim anyone at this point in the games.

"I don't want to hurt you," she told the unidentified figure, "I'm tired, and I want to go nap. I'm sure you're tired too. Let's just go our separate ways, yeah?"

Though I was almost certain there were no more supplies to be found in this nearly barren landscape, I was still determined to search for more.

I didn't want anything useful to slip past me. I saw a machete at one point, but I left it where it was. It wouldn't do much for me. Throwing it would be useless, at least I could throw my knife. Rollei was back setting up camp for us. Us being around each other wasn't a good idea, even if we agreed to a truce we were seconds away from ripping out each other's throats.

Speaking of ripping out throats, I saw a female figure, though I couldn't make it out. I grabbed the first weapon I had, my knife. I was ready to throw it and run, not bothering to look if it hit. And that's when the girl pulled out her own weapon with a plea. And I knew exactly who it was. Sinead, the girl from twelve. We got along pretty well, at least that's what she thought.

"Sinead! It's me, Abel. Do you wanna chat?"

I didn't want to talk to her, truly. But as far as everyone else knew I was solo. No one had seen Rollei and I together yet. She was more likely to trust me. And that meant I could ask for information. How big was her alliance? What supplies did they have? Had she seen any other tributes?

With each step Abel took towards her, Sinead's bow shook more and more, and if it weren't for her superhuman grip on the handle she was sure she would've dropped it.

"Friend or foe?" She asked as he stepped closer to her, as she slowly inched away. She could've easily pulled the trigger and let go, but something told her not to. Abel had a family. He was a friend. Her friend.

But she had an alliance, and Abel was not in it. He could just as easily draw his weapon and end her life then and there. Sinead's life was held carefully in Abel's hand, her vulnerability as tough as porcelain. Easy to crack.

Something told her not to trust Abel, despite the time they had spent together. She looked over her back at her alliance. She had left Whiskey and Tsara to their own devices, and Nixie was keeping watch elsewhere. She already had faltering faith in Whiskey - especially leaving him alone with the one member who was the most weak and vulnerable, besides herself.

But a part of her also thought maybe if Whiskey killed her, it wouldn't be all that bad. It would be one less body to worry about.

She shook her thoughts away and focused on the immediate threat: Abel O'Malley.

"About what?" she inquired, looking hesitantly at him. Her bow was still pointed towards him, her finger on the trigger ready to pull. "How can I trust you, Abel?"
