quotes, quotes, quotes, one in every color! with so many iconic writers and tributes all in one season, it's important to give all 24 of us a chance to shine in that spotlight, baby. for these games, a group of vet members & myself are going through to read each and every trib & picking some golden quotes to represent them each week. this first week we're doing...THE REAPING :“Move it Satin, Victors have a certain Je ne se quoi, and babes, you’ve got a certain Je ne se NAW, you know? HEY, I VOLUNTEER!! ME! THE PRETTY ONE!”
- D1f Nylon Gingham ( charade )
People only see you as unique if you’re make them envious or if you make them afraid. The Fray name harnesses the envy. The blood in his teeth brings the fear. And when you have both, it makes you pretty fuckin’ unique, enough to be called a barbarian, a warrior, the asshole that wouldn’t waver about punching someone’s wisdom tooth out or painting the town red.
- D1m Bastian Fray ( gunner, d9 ₊⊹ 👹 ɢʀɪғғɪɴ. )
Maybe they'll call my name, I think, a little seed of hope planted within my chest. At least then I know I could win and be free of them forever. I would be untouchable, unkillable... unforgivable, but alive. That's worth something. I'm tired of running, tired of just surviving. I want to live.
- D2f Liza Manford ( sidney )
All eyes are on them before he can even react. A silence burning at the edges of his lips before he glares down to Pascal. Somewhere in his whole determination to follow the rules, he's forgotten about the emotions caught up in the crossfire of everything. Pascal's angry, but there's a sorrow in those eyes staring up at him. An unpleasant feeling burns in his stomach before he keeps glaring, words slipping out from his lips. "I don't care. Let go." The cost of his name is too much.
- D2m Iden Averill ( Tom )
When she reached the microphone, she held out her hand to the escort, as though to verify the little slip of paper bearing her name. She just wanted to be sure. Not that it was her, but that it was her. Tsara in all her glory.
- D3f Tsara Fer ( admin kay )
He’d pulled out his camera to get the line of boys mid-laugh just minutes before one of them would be hauled off to death. And all the laughter lines of that image couldn’t hide the fear lingering at the edges of their eyes.
- D3m Arthur Rollei ( marguerite harvard d2a (zori) )
Marina and I have been arguing a lot lately, and honestly, it's nothing new, but it still puts a damper on my mood. We're sisters, so I suppose that it's to be expected. Nevertheless, she's a gray storm cloud and I'm the bright sunshine that can't quite push through. Although, she'd argue the opposite.
- D4f Nixie Summers ( kap )
I feel like I'm hitting the self destruct button instead of chasing some kind of glory, and maybe because I am just falling apart.
- D4x Anarchy Mer ( @fabulousraven )
"I said," and as he raises his baton to strike her, she veers to the side, "to move." She obliges. Bolting forward, weapon slicing harmlessly through the air behind her, she runs. To what destination, she's not sure, but she doesn't stop. Even as the shouting starts, and she can hear the swell of alarms screeching through the district. She gasps out, lungs already burning, but she can't stop. It's too late for that. She stands face to face with her undoing. And she charges into it.
- D5f Cecily Deerling ( gamemaker 🍒 maryn hale )
His favorite mug sits on the kitchen counter because putting it back in the cupboard was bewilderingly painful. Like burying him all over again. The old apartment is holding its breath, still waiting for him to waltz through the door with a goofy smile and a shitty bouquet. Which I know he won't. Because he's dead.
- D5m Gavin Hale ( ᴥ )
I step forward as I take Nina's hand in mine. "It's okay, Nins," I give her hand a gentle squeeze before letting it go, the crowd parting before us. But it was not her that took the next step, it was me. "It's my turn to help you."
- D6f Aurora Emerson ( lionel estrada d5 ᥫ᭡ kiah )
Maybe once you had people you cared about, but you let them down, or you blew them off. Consumed in your whirlpool of drugs and booze and women. You find it easier to have no one, don't you? There's no one for your actions to hurt, now.
- D6m Jack Spragg ( rook )
Tighter, she feels her nails digging into her palms, wrapped all the way around. Violence and flowers. If you look closely, a sliver of blood drip, drip, drips down the stem and gets caught at the base of a petal. "Maisy?" she says out loud now, questioning. "Maisy?"
- D7f Sasha Dupree ( 🌱 kaitlin. )
That's when it hits: the reality, the wave, the fire and the smoke. And then, the anger. He dusts off dirt and dust as he stands again, helped over to his spot by an escort that only cares about what the cameras show. Snake eyes stare out into a crowd that will be better off when he's gone, every gaze broken as they refuse to stare back at him.
- D7m Whiskey Finch ( pogue )
But I just wanted- I just want- I want- "You can call me Ginny," I say into the microphone, dead inside, my voice cracks along with my heart. The inside of my cheeks start to bleed from biting down and I am selfish, selfish, selfish -- look at me. please.
- D8f Ginny Lawson ( [ retro gm ] angel lí ✨ )
He remembers when his father yelled at him for looking soft when he wanted to wear a light yellow pair of socks to school. The most minute things are what aggravates him most. Before Tyrone steps out the front door, his father leaves one final remark. "Good luck! Don't end up like your mom!"
- D8m Ty Hope-Less ( MATTIO )
Her breathing becomes shallow and she watches as the reflection staring back at her begins to cry. The tears fall and she winces against them like they hurt. She'd never been much of a crier, and she always made it a point to be especially strong around her mother. Lot of good that did. "What if they get me?" She seems to genuinely consider it as a possibility, which Aneesa appreciates. The months spent trying to convince her she had nothing to worry about were completely useless. Were the circumstances weird? Yes. Had she been in the wrong place at the wrong time? Yes. Would it logically have happened if there weren't rioters running the streets that night? Probably not. Did any of it make a difference?
- D9f Aneesa Warden ( dars )
I think I tune out the voice in record time, trying to find Gunner's head in the sea of faces surrounding me. Predictably, I fail - and while there are few times I curse my twink body, (because it is very handy in the right scenarios) this inability to look over the heads of my peers qualifies as one.
- D9m Zane Holbrook ( lance )
"Melanie Rune." It takes a couple of people standing next to them for Maddox to realize that their name is the one being called. It takes people taking a step back. Melanie is only used at home, and in public places, and in this moment, Maddox realizes what has happened. Their eyes lock with Hawkins and Jarrad, and the fear that's radiating from them causes every hair to stand on end. Ma and Pa are standing with their chins to the ground. Water pools in the corner of their eyes, but Maddox knows better than to cry. Each step feels like it takes an eternity, and the only sounds Maddox hears are the sound of a beating heart racing quickly. The stairs to the stage feels like several flights, but soon Maddox is standing next to the escort. Maddox clears their throat - "It's Maddox." And that is all anyone needs to know because today is the day Maddox stops living in fear. Today is the day everything changes.
- D10x Maddox Rune ( knuckles )
"They all know I'm scared. But I think that's fine. Be a little crazy if I wasn't, right?
But mostly—""Laurence Woodruff, hi.""—I'm ready to win.
I'm ready to be a victor."
- D10m Laurence Woodruff ( arx )
It’s like dusk again, everything standing so still except this time there is no birdsong, no whistle of the wind. Only the deafening silence filling her ears.
- D11f Luya Feng ( я𝑜𝓈𝑒 )
I hoped that Six's death was enough of a punishment from God for my cousins. Yes, they've sinned. The O'Malleys were chosen by God to be Peacekeepers and defend the rule of our rightful leaders in the Capitol and keep the Panem safe. And his parents had forsaken that calling to be farmers. But they were already punished with Six. Though, part of me feared God would kill my cousins one by one until that side of the family repented. And God responded to my fears. Prop O'Malley! I was right. He was going to kill them, all of them, one by one.
- D11m Abel O'Malley ( @icyhot )
Her voice faltered as the mic was pressed to her cherry stained lips and she announced her name. Sinead Williams. Affron Williams. They were one in the same - two siblings doomed to the same ending, yet hers wasn't a choice. Fate's a bitch, isn't it?
- D12f Sinead Williams ( bailee )
Ever since he returned, he felt that itch that couldn't be scratched. He needed to be away again, to go anywhere else but here. He tried crawling under the fence, but the Peacekeepers were on him like flies to shit. They knew him better by now. His punishment was to remain cattle in a monochromatic life, seeking thrill after thrill until his body couldn't take it anymore. Eventually, he would probably die of something. He had thought about dying before while perched on the edge of a building. Nobody knew what came after death, and that was exciting. His dead body on the ground, head cracked open, would definitely be a sight.
- D12m Cedric Hardin ( Python )
