It is hard to breathe. Every step is hurting as muscles cramp up, and it takes every ounce of strength not to cry out in pain. The only thing to do is to keep walking. Just keep walking until they can't walk anymore. Blood sticks to their arm along with the sweat, and it burns as the sweat drips into the open wound. That is when they lean next to one of the stilts holding up a building that is high in the air.
Sweat trickles down their cheek, and each time they try wiping it away more appears. It almost seems impossible with the lack of water and food along with the little urine output. Death by dehydration seems like the worst possible way to go, but Maddox knows that isn't true. Watching the games year after year and seeing what everyone goes through. The loss of limbs. Being stabbed multiple times. All of that is painful and much worse than dehydration.
For a moment, they can't take their eye off the jug of water setting in their bag. Of course drinking it now will only prolong the effects slightly. Cotton mouth is one of the worst feelings ever, so even a sip of water would help. Wouldn't it?
Maddox pulls the water from their bag, and slowly opens the lid. It is important to drink it now because who knows when they'll have a chance to find something to drink again.
No, waiting is for the best.
But that is when they see more water running through the area.
I'll fill this back up later.
One sip after another until the entire jug is empty. Oh how wonderful it feels.
Putting the jug back into their bag, Maddox moves to the water to refill it, and then once it is full drops the iodine tablet inside it. This will stay safe in their backpack until it is time to drink again.
