"You better be good to me
That's how it's got to be now
'Cause I don't have no use
For what you loosely call the truth
You better be good to me"
"Breaker six, how about you come back,” Arthur fiddled with his walkie as he paced along the edge of the dunes where they’d downed the kangarexes. He’d seen the other alliance on his way down into the crater that morning but wasn’t sure which way they’d gone. No cannons had sounded so at least he knew none of them were dead. Though it bothered him there hadn’t been at least one. That’d mean the gamemakers would put in extra work the next day to bring up the body count.
Well, he hoped he got to live it up a little before then.
“Tsara, you copy? We just finished putting down two lizard things. Had a bite taken out of me but it’s not so bad. You okay, over?” Arthur waited a moment against the backdrop of static and fuzz. He put the thing back into his shirt pocket and turned back to face the walls of the crater. If they headed back the way they came they could get their bearings toward the bridges they’d seen and if they kept going, might head further toward the ends of the arena. He wasn’t keen on heading back to the lava flows, all things considered. It seemed a matter of time before some sort of eruption there.
“Hey Abel,” Arthur called out. He knelt down to search through his pack and sort through his winnings. He popped open the pills marked antibiotics and swallowed them down. Back in three they’d learned of tetanus and meningitis, and all the things that could kill you quick from a deep cut if he wasn’t careful. He pulled out the needle and thread and stared at it considering whether it’d be worth the pain to patch the holes in his arm. “Sun’s gonna set soon. We setting up camp or what?”
He sat back against the gravel and moved to open up his lunchables. He nibbled on the crackers and swallowed down the cheese, almost forgetting it hadn’t been that long since he’d been sitting at a table eating biscuits and gravy for breakfast. He let out a belch that echoed across the crater and grinned.
“You’re welcome by the way.” Arthur moved to cross his arm across his chest to get a better angle at his wounds. He started on the tears in his flesh as he spoke, “You might’ve been dead without me, you know? But it’s cool. We did ok out there, I guess.”
[Arthur collects items, does first aid stuff, etc]
