It felt heavy in his hands.
"Shit man," his breath was heavy as he twirled the handgun between his fingers. "Where you even get this shit cuz?" He asked, tilting his head to the side in amazement. It was a ton of effort to so much as tear his eyes from the gun and look up at him.
He was a strange man. He was about thirty, late twenties at a push. He had close-cropped dirty blonde hair and skin as pale as porcelain. A blue hoodie was draped over his body and it was so baggy Tee couldn't even tell whether he was skinny or fat. The corners of his lips curled up, but his eyes didn't smile. They were so dead, yet so blue. "All you need to know is that it's legit."
Tee nodded his head before slowly pocketing it.
"You best not be playing me, Kight."
Mark Kight's smile dropped. He stepped towards Tee, he had a good three inches on the boy, but Tee didn't so much as step back.
"Do I look like I'm playing?"
Tee shook his head.
"Do I sound like the kind of person who plays?"
"Don't trip man, I know you good."
It was true, Red wouldn't recommend him if he wasn't legit. Besides, Tee had seen the blood trail that family had left smeared on the streets of District Six. They were the embodiment of calculated crime, supplying the street crews with poison and watching the district become a battleground while they pocketed the profit. If Mark clicked his fingers, Tee wouldn't live to see the next day.
Kight's artificial smile broke the tension as he reached into his pocket, pulled out a magazine and held it in an outstretched hand. "That shit's nothing but a piece of metal without bullets." Tee plucked it from his fingertips and pocketed that too.
"Thanks, man." He thanked him with a small, quick nod. He turned around, ready to leave the alleyway before he paused. He turned back around. "What other crews you doing this kinda thing for?"
Mark Kight laughed. It was soft, hardly loud enough to hear but the sound still pierced his skin. "I'll tell you what I told your buddy. They don't know who you are, and you don't know who they are. I don't play favorites, you understand?"
Tee nodded his head in cold understanding before he turned and disappeared behind a curtain of darkness.
