District 13 was all he had known for so long, it's strange knowing there's no return. His family considers him dead - hopes for it, even. You can't leave, you can't live your life until you do, what's a guy to do? 

Easton turned his back thirteen years ago and hasn't second guessed it once. It's not a battle to survive anymore, another week of rationing in the barracks praying he doesn't get sent out. Not everyone can be strong, not everybody is built to fight. If leaving makes him a traitor, maybe he never belonged in the first place. Over the last decade, he's built a good being working under Nixton, beyond lucky to be given just what he needs: a chance.

Fake name, fake documents, maybe she just took pity on him or maybe she just needed the position filled. He's never had the guts to ask why Mayor Nixton hired him, just the drive to never let her down. 

After forty years of struggling, Easton's made it right where he wants it - and he's risking nothing to stay here.
