Nixie was a killer now, and for some reason, Marina expected her to totally break down when it happened. But she didn't. She was calm, collected, and didn't seem like she was fazed by it whatsoever. Marina began to wonder if Nixie had enjoyed it, but she couldn't be sure. She hadn't spoken to her allies on it at all, so there were no words for Marina to connect to Nixie's feelings.
Nixie was often hard to read without words. She kept a lot of things to herself. She was one to bottle up her emotions, much like Marina was. Marina didn't share much with anyone. If she was upset, she wouldn't tell anyone, aside from her best friend when she finally hit an emotional limit. Nixie was the type to bottle it up and eventually let it out as anger later on. She was too stubborn to share her problems, and no one ever really knew she was upset until she unleashed it all in the form of frustration.
Marina wondered if Nixie would end up snapping on her allies if she was keeping in guilt from killing. She also wondered if maybe Nixie didn't feel guilty and would end up spouting off about how great she felt later. It could really go either way, and Marina didn't know which way that would be.
As Marina watched the television screen at the start of day five, she could see Nixie and her allies getting ready to fight, when all of a sudden, right at the start of it all, Abel O'Malley, Nixie's newest ally, killed the District Nine girl in one shot. Marina's jaw dropped, and Nixie seemed impressed as well. Impressed, rather than scared. That was when Marina realized that she may actually know what Nixie was thinking. She was a career tribute, after all. Careers were trained to kill.
She must be enjoying herself, just like Marina thought she would have if it were here instead of Nixie.
