"Move along," Quint said as she strode across the field. Why their parish school had a field smack dab in the middle of the campus was a source of debate. Was it because the district really needed more grazing land for cattles? Or was it a reminder of the inevitable end of their education? In either case it was a damn nuisance. She only owned one set of heels and she sure as shit wasn't going to ruin it in the mud dashing from geometry to advanced english. Her faded leather rucksack rattled with books. She was probably going to be late.

"Quint?" A freshman squeaked at her.

She slowed a fraction of a pace. "Keep up or get lost."

"I was told to deliver this to you?" He managed, throat constricting.

Quint turned to assess him and was presented with an impossibly large bouquet.

Of hay.

Tied with twine.

A few rather depressed white roses stuck out, a feeble attempt at a romantic gesture.

She laughed, mouth open wide to the blue sky. "Oh hell no. If someone wants to congratulate me on winning class president, they can do it on person. Go feed that to a cow."

She made a mental note to ban roses from campus, effective immediately.
