“If I hear one more god-damn word about Annie The Bitch I swear I’m going to cut off her stupid blonde hair!”
Ah, family. Never a dull moment around here! Mum and dad sure had their work cut out for them when they ran off together to start their own little clan of Morrisens.
Take Aris for example. Dad probably pegged her as the star Victor-To-Be before I was even a twinkle in his eye. Oldest child favouritism and all that jazz. Turns out she’s more of the brooding, bookish type. Can always tell what you’re thinking… or maybe I’m just real easy to read. I’ve been told I’m an open book!
They probably should have stopped after Aris, ‘cause then you’ve got Ada, and what a firecracker she is! Keeps me on my toes with her hot and cold moods, although I’m getting pretty sick of the “I Hate Annie” show. I don’t really get the big deal. Like, just chill? There’s still plenty of time for you to go marching off to the Death Games and get a shiny crown of your own. What’s that saying… uhh, “the more the merrier” right? Nah idk, ever since she beat me out of the womb I’ve spent most of my free time trying to convince her that life is supposed to be fun – will probably end up blue in the face from it.
But hell if I don’t love her! Don’t know what I’d do without her, you know?
And then there’s me. The youngest of our little branch on the family tree by an incredible three minutes and forty-one seconds, but who’s counting! I turn up to training with Ada, fuck around for a while, go home and try to remember what the heck we learned at school that day, usually end up stalking around the club trying to avoid dad. It’s probably not good for business to have a 16-year-old freely roaming a club, but I’m stealthy enough to follow dad unnoticed, watching and learning how he holds the ship down. I love the atmosphere at night – the music, the flashing lights, the smell of liquor, and it’s the premium shit thank you very much!
To be honest, I don’t really give a crap about school or training or any of the success and glory Ada’s always rambling on about. I won’t need any of it when I follow in dad’s footsteps. I just gotta show him I can handle it. That I’d make ten times a better club owner than a Victor.
But really, I’m just happy to be here!
