Dillwyn was weird.
At least that's what pretty much everyone in school had said. All sorts of wild theories about how he was a conspiracy theorist or he took drugs and got "perma-fried". But honestly, I didn't really trust any of it. High school gossip is exactly that, high school gossip. People used to spread all sorts of sh- stuff about me until I started working out, getting a bit bigger. I wouldn't actually fight anyone, but they think I could and that's enough.
I didn't have any classes with Dill, but that wasn't too strange. I mainly took advanced classes and a lot of them were science courses so I got used to only seeing a select group of people day after day for years now. It was just the way things were. But one day, I decided I might as well. Poor kid probably doesn't talk to a lot of people because they talk bad about him. I wouldn't want to either.
He always sat alone at lunch, I decided to try to fix it. When I saw him that day in the cafeteria, I sat across from him. My mom packed my lunch everyday. Since her and Dad work in healthcare they're big on balanced meals and school food is far from it. I bet even careers have horrible school food up in One.
When I sat down I gave him a little smile. I wasn't the best with words always, I could be a bit awkward, but hey at least I was trying, "I hope if you don't mind me sitting with you. My names Peter. And you are?" I knew his name, but I thought it might be weird to address him by name considering we never really met before. I hope he didn't mind the intrusion too much. I just wanted to try to be his friend, maybe make his day a little better if I could.
