As the two finalists prepared for their matchup, three champions of past tournaments leaped into action, fighting each other in close combat with a flurry of blows that ultimately left Helen Thieves from District Two, the original tournament champion, standing victorious. But while Twos were quick to crow that that victory meant a good omen in the finale ahead, Ones were even quicker to rebuke that, claiming it meant nothing, and Fours quietly celebrated the fact that they weren't the first out twice in one tournament, attention was already shifting towards the finale itself.
And what a finale it was set to be. With the stage being easily triple the size of the previous matches, there was plenty of room for spectators and fighters alike to maneuver for the best possible spots. Indeed, thirty minutes before the match itself started, the spacious gymnasium was packed to the brim, spotlights shining down on the main stage from a dozen different angles, and the energy in the room was barely containing itself at a level beneath a fever pitch.
And then the tournament itself started. Two girls from almost polar opposite backgrounds - an unknown from Two who had become her district's sole hope in the quarterfinals yet had defeated the odds time and time again, and a legacy from One looking to inject new relevance into a largely stagnant family name - stepped up to the pitch, a classic tale of favorite and underdog, David and Goliath. But who would win? Who would claim the glorious honor of being the first to not only outlast their peers, but beat any and every rival that crossed their path at the same time?
The gong sounded, and the world held its breath - for truthfully, nobody knew.
The final match of the tournament consists of Reldexx Scarr of District Two (Cait) vs Syrena Fray of District One (Dars)
