Lysander Mae was a victor that, I'll admit, I hadn't put a whole lot of thought into. She own the Hunger Games a few years ago, but she wasn't one of the ones that stood out in my mind too much. I mean, sure, she was a victor from Five, which was something that we hadn't had in a long time at the time, but that was all I'd really thought of her: she was breaking the cycle of Five not having a victor. I didn't really have any other opinions.
Now that I was a victor myself, though, I was sure I'd develop some sort of opinion on each victor I met. The main ones that'd stood out to me recently before I'd met them had been Annie and Beck, since they were from my own District, as well as Ridley for being from a career District. Oh, and the two recent younger ones: Kassandra and Flynn. They'd always impressed me.
At least I paid a decent amount of attention to Lysander's Games, so if I needed to, that could be a discussion topic. I wasn't sure what it was she wanted to talk about, but while I was in Five on my victory tour, she'd asked to talk to me. It was likely to be just some sort of congratulatory thing again, I assumed, but I supposed I would never know until I was there.
It had been hard to convince the Peacekeepers to let me go off somewhere to talk with Lysander, but I was relatively persuasive, and was able to get them to agree to let me go for the time being. I just had to tell them where I was going. So, I told them where Lysander and I were meeting, and headed off.
I had to ask a few locals where to go to get to the restaurant we were meeting at, hoping that wouldn't mean that they'd follow me there, since quite a few of them were excited to see me. Eventually, though, I got to where I was meant to be, and walked through the door of the restaurant. It was definitely more of a bar and grill sort of place— nothing too fancy. I looked around for Lysander but she wasn't there yet. I supposed that made sense. I was a bit early.
Taking a seat at one of the tables' booths, I started looking over the menu while I waited for her. I told the waitress who came by that I would be paying for the food and drinks when Lysander and I were finished there. I told her not to let Lysander pay, even if she insisted. It was the least I could do to make a good impression on her.
I didn't really want to be on bad terms with any of the victors.
Ordering myself an orange soda probably seemed a little childish, but it was my favorite. I decided to wait before ordering food until Lysander got there. Hopefully whatever she wanted to talk to me about wasn't too bad.
