Rania feels great to be finally working in the field rather than sat thousands of miles away in a Capitol office on the twenty-fourth floor watching through the cameras. Finally she can experience what she see’s written on paper and scheduled on a spreadsheet on a tablet somewhere.
District Six – she did not want to go to the expected career District and well the roll of the dice brought her here today to present the new Traveling Pan-African Carnival. An honour absolutely but she doubts the citizens are impressed with her being on the stage today. Likely favouring one of their own to be cutting the ribbon for a whole new event.
Ever since Snow’s departure and the formation of the High Council, Rania has noticed that the once shunned exploration of heritage and culture beyond the confines of Panem is suddenly being embraced. There is a curiosity about history, about a world beyond the great ocean and exactly how everyone ended up on this very same land. Of course, not without the odd Panem politics red tape here and there. The department did have to jump through dozens of hoops over a long period to get the travelling carnival accepted but finally, the Capitol are hot for it and willing to share their own celebrations of black heritage with the rest. Though she is sure the Districts have their own way of celebrating it.
It is time for Rania to celebrate her own heritage. It is time for the rest of Panem’s black citizens get the chance to too with the once held fear under Snow’s reign. There is a whole history out there that is waiting to be discovered.
”Thank you for allowing me to welcome the Traveling Pan-African Carnival to District Six.” Rania has never heard her own voice so loud before, it travels across the crowd from the stage over the dozens of speakers in the square. ”I hope you take your time to embrace the festivities over the next three days and you are invited to participate in the parade in any way that you can.”
A smile beams from cheek to cheek across Rania’s face. ”And now I can officially announce that the carnival may begin!”||
OOC REMINDERS!
Local entertainers are encouraged to join in the opening parade with their own floats or walking performances, and are welcomed to set up their own booths or stalls in the main district square alongside the other carnival setups. So be creative! If you have a local way to celebrate black heritage, they want you to show it.
Beads are determined by a dice roll [*roll range="1-10"] in your first post, and all posts after earn you +2 beads.
Please keep track of your beads here!
This event will run until February 28th.
And most importantly, have fun. x
