↳ FRIDA CROWE-HO
Fashion, meet beauty.
She and a few other girls from the Capitol packed up their bags two nights ago to make the train ride today, and miss Frida packed 6 changes of clothes. Gowns, bodysuits and a spaghetti dress to go, she's got two wigs and the faith of God that'll carry her through hitting the road. Now, unlike the other girls, she's got to sneak off to a gig on the otherside of town because she hadn't caught the memo that the hotel in 8 wouldn't be free.
Like, what kind of shit is that? But so a two step in a bedazzled body suit and some thigh highs later, she's hastily swapping costumes in the back of her Capitolite cab. Reapplication with a hand mirror yelling at the cab to drive faster, she pokes herself in the eye but arrives just on time.
She used to know a girl with that name, Justina Time. Quit drag after a mutt stunt went wrong and she lost a leg. Justoutta Time.
Frida marches on stage single file, shaking and shimmying a star spangled fringe around her body while she twirls beads in her right hand. Six show girls in sparkly drag stomp behind her, and a march band follows suit after that, trumpets and trombones busting life onto the other wise smoggy streets of District 8. The sun's going down, you can see the film of smoke above the city as it chases into the horizon in its own parade.
But so she takes center stage, bouncing a hip to the beat of the song and jokingly checking her nails waiting for the music to die down. The girls behind her shake ass and beads alike before calming into a rhythmic stance, the tuba bass line dies just low enough for Frida to feel comfortable speaking into the mic without yelling. "There we have it! District 8, it is such an honor to bring all this life and music to Panem's frontline of fashion. Without you guys, where would I be? On the runway in burlap?!"
She throw her hands out before continuing on, "I'd also like to say that it is past due for us to see culture on our screens, more of this and less of the death games, Panem. With all that said, it's with pride I get to welcome District 8 to... the Traveling Pan-African Carnival! Catch some beads, watch the floats, and most importantly y'all have fun. Oh- and there's going to be stalls on either side of the parade, please wait for a clear opening before moving to the other side, thank you! We aren't responsible for anybody getting hit by a float, let's keep that in mind, alright? Bon ton roulet!"
Frida backs away to grab her beads before leaning back into the mic one last time, "now, let the music play!"

OOC REMINDERS!
Local entertainers are encouraged to join in the opening parade with their own floats or walking performances, and are welcomed to set up their own booths or stalls in the main district square alongside the other carnival setups. So be creative! If you have a local way to celebrate black heritage, they want you to show it.
Beads are determined by a dice roll [*roll range="1-10"] in your first post, and all posts after earn you +2 beads.
Please keep track of your beads here!
This event will run until February 28th.
And most importantly, have fun. x
