Ivan was never the party type, so if he had any sort of excuse to get out of going to his sister's big "reaping party" that she was putting on, he'd take it. She put on this huge get-together every year, between the reaping and the bloodbath, to commemorate the tributes who were going into the Games. Almost everyone who attended got drunk and placed bets, and Ivan hated being around drunk people, especially if he was sober, and Ivan had decided that, in the couple of weeks when he trained tributes each year, he would be completely sober.

It wasn't hard for him, as he wasn't much of a drinker anyway.

Luckily, Ivan had a valid enough excuse not to go to his sister's party that night. He'd forgotten about her party and scheduled a tattoo and piercing appointment that day, and her party was an all-day affair that you didn't just show up late to. So, if he had any plans that day, he wouldn't be going to the party.

Ivan had heard about Byeong-Ho's tattoo shop through word of mouth. Everyone at work seemed to be talking about how famous people were going to the shop and it was getting a lot of press. He figured, if that was the case, the place must do good work. So, he called the shop, set up an appointment, and waited for the day to come.

Arriving a bit early for his appointment, as he always did with just about anything he ever had on his schedule (he hated being late to things), Ivan was a little taken off-guard by the appearance of the shop. For starters, it was pink inside. Actually, it was very pink. It was really a nice aesthetic, just not how Ivan would've done things. It wasn't exactly his typical style.

When Ivan approached the counter, he gave a smile.

"I'm here for an appointment with Byeong-Ho. I'm Ivan Rin. Supposed to be a tattoo and a piercing today," he explained. He'd lined up another ear piercing for one he had been putting off getting for a while, simply because he didn't want to go somewhere to get just that done and nothing else. That's why he'd also booked this tattoo to go along with it.

The tattoo that he had scheduled to have Byeong-Ho do for him was of a light blue rose with the number '87' written on one of the petals. He planned to add numbers to the petals for each victor he trained. He'd trained Flynn Garner, who'd won the year of the 87th, which was why he was going with an '87' for the number on the first petal.

He wasn't sure at first if the tattoo was a stupid idea, or if it would seem like some sort of gang symbol or whatever, which is why he'd waited nearly three whole years to get it, but eventually decided that, since it was his body and not anyone else's, it didn't matter what anyone else thought of his tattoo.

That, and he was craving new ink for so long that he needed to satiate his hunger.

B Y E O N G - H O Y O O N

I almost had to go to some stupid party today, I know my parents wanted me to go. But someone - one person exactly - made an appointment with me today. A tattoo and a piercing. Which meant I had an excuse to not go, I had work. Sure I could go after, it was just one appointment, but why would I? I couldn't get shitfaced with my parents there. And I didn't want to be at any parties unless I was absolutely hammered. That was the only thing that really made them tolerable to me. Guess I'm a buzz kill.

It was a bit before the appointment was scheduled to start and I had just finished getting the appetizers ready. I was sat back at my reception desk finishing up some paperwork. Nothing related to this tattoo, just some expense reports. Being the owner and sole employee of the shop meant I never really had down time - I always had something to do. Sure if I failed my parents would just give me more money to keep going, but I wanted to earn it.

But then someone walked in, someone who looked vaguely familiar. He had plenty of visible tattoos, but none of them were my work. Besides I know all of my clients by at least face, though I try to associate their names with it too. I thought for a second he was a members of Sampson's entourage from when he got his work done here. But then he approached and let me know he had an appointment. I must know him from somewhere else then, if he was a member of Sampson's entourage he'd definitely be partying today. I rose and gave him a polite smile.

"Aah Mr. Rin, what a pleasure to meet you. I'm Byeong-Ho, owner of Flying Colours: Pretty in Ink Tattoos. I have some forms for you to read over and sign, normal waiver stuff. It also goes over payment of course. Go ahead and take a seat on those couches. But first, any allergies or dietary restrictions I should know of? I like to offer my clients a light snack."

As I spoke I gathered some papers and put them on a clipboard and got a pen for him as well. He was definitely cute, but I made it a rule not to ask out clients. Now if a client asked me out that would be different. I set the clipboard on the counter in front of him with the pen and got a paper to take note of any restrictions. Some Capitolites followed very strict fad diets or even had extensive allergies so I was prepared for an entire list.

He didn't look like my usual clientele. A lot of more "punk" aesthetic people took a look at my shop and cancelled their appointments. It was a bit disheartening really. Yes my shop had a certain aesthetic, but it wasn't like I was going to throw up pink all over them. I have several pieces of artwork in my portfolio that have no reds at all - especially with red ink being a somewhat common allergy. But some people are just closed minded.

Byeong-Ho's smile was a kind one, presented to him upon entering the shop. He greeted Ivan, telling him that he had some forms for him to fill out, which was to be expected when it came to tattooing. If there hadn't been any forms to fill out, that's where Ivan would have risen concern. He was told to take a seat, and did as instructed, while Byeong-Ho asked if he had any allergies or dietary restrictions.

Ivan was the type to eat anything that he was offered. He didn't have anything stopping him from doing so, so he often chose to just enjoy whatever he wanted. Although, he did try to be a bit healthier than he would have if he weren't the head trainer for tributes in the Capitol. He needed to stay in shape, after all.

"I can eat anything," he told the artist. "Thank you," he continued. He appreciated the offering of a snack.

Ivan received the paperwork from Byoeng-Ho on a clipboard, and began to fill the forms out. There were things on there such as location and design of the tattoo, consent to tattooing, and quite importantly, confirming that he wasn't under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. That was something that he could tell was important to this shop, and in his opinion, it was quite respectable of Byoeng-Ho to put that rule in place.

Honestly, Ivan had seen some pretty terrible tattoo ideas that people had come up with while drunk and regretted later in life. It was often an interesting story for them to tell, but Ivan couldn't imagine having to deal with the regret and embarrassment that came along with such a story.

When Ivan finished filling out the forms, he let Byoeng-Ho know.

"Looks like we're good with the forms," he said after penning his signature on the last line he was meant to put it on at the bottom of the page.

He gave Byoeng-Ho a smile. It was strange: despite the artist being so different from Ivan, he stood out to him in a rather positive way. He seemed quite nice: polite and considerate. He was also quite cute. Ivan found himself glancing at him for a moment longer than he meant to, before looking away, hoping Byoeng-Ho hadn't caught the extended gaze.

Usually, Byoeng-Ho wouldn't have been the type Ivan picked out in a crowd as the type he found appealing. Usually, Ivan was attracted to people with a similar aesthetic to himself. Perhaps this time, though, different just seemed to be what he was finding nice to look at.

There's no shame in liking something a little different for a change, though, he figured.

He tried not to focus on it too much, though. This was surely meant to be a completely professional relationship. Flirting wasn't necessarily out of the question, but he couldn't be expecting anything more than that. Surely that'd be inappropriate.

Ready to get started with either the snack or the work itself, Ivan waited to see where Byoeng-Ho wanted to start things.
