*pings half the site* it's the 90th reading quotes, would you look at that! the vet's are back again with some friends to quotify some posts and read every single tribute, every single post. let's get into it, we're starting off with:THE REAPING
Although, that little known fact was just that. Little known. As in secret. And you know what an addict is terrible at? Keeping quiet, especially when pissed off and/or easily annoyed by the sound of Prada’s voice. I didn’t do it on purpose, don’t mistake. I would never just put someone’s business out there like that, but everyone makes mistakes, okay? It slipped out, and like a landslide, it brought on a world of shit.
There’s no amount of apologies that can fix such a thing.
And as Prada calls out my name, intending me as her replacement in this year's games, I knew she had finally gotten even.
Apparently eye for an eye wasn't good enough. Now its an eye for my life.
- D1 Pope Vanburen [ sidney ]
Isaac was not born to be a killer, but he was definitely trained to be one, and while he helped straighten Vice’s tie, he thought about how quickly his hands could be around the boys neck instead of the fabric between his fingers.
- D1 Isaac Le Roux [ pearl mcclain d4 [ryan] ]
Bellisario’s don’t have the best track record when it comes to survival.
Lottie always thought it would be her to win. She always wanted it to be her. The one to bring glory to the family. That was until she watched Love die. Years of training, and just days to be slaughtered. After that she only had one dream.
To live.
- D2 Lottie Bellisario [ gamemaker sloane ♕ kaяi ♕ ]
"Oh well, Esther Carter everyone!" The Escort looked disappointed and turned her attention back to the reaping bowls, away from the broken and forgotten thing that was Esther Carter.
Tick.
Like she always would be.
- D3 Esther Carter [ ali ]
Bellamy Scott, a brother who we watched die on the television screen. It should be a nightmare in my mind, but it just leaves me with more questions. With more curiosity.
Bellamy definitely found something out. The Capitol are behind all of this. There are answers right there.
- D3 Sierra Bordreaux [ d6a georgie cham 🍓🐢 frankel ]
There is something to knowing a person before they grow up. Something you can't take back. Something you will always understand.
- D4 Parker Lachlan [ gamemaker tallis 🧚🏽♂️kaitlin. ]
Turner always said I would drown myself. I just never expected to drown on dryland like this. I wonder if he resents me for it. For not being able to fill the space he left. For not seeing our parents in over a month. For being high while he was dying. For... everything. I shut the water off with a harsh turn of the valve.
- D4 Talon Grey [ Arrows ]
I know I could make someone else drop dead or down at my feet if I wanted them to, and there’s something in me that does want that, even though there’s no person in Five I’d wish it upon. Maybe it’s for the sake of pain, of wanting to see it shared. I’ve not hurt enough to want that, and I want to know where it comes from, where the decrepit fences in Five lead when they stretch out beyond the sightline, where they streak off to in sunset. I wonder about bliss, just as I do every day of my life, and I wonder about the places I might soon see and how short the days are there, if they have the moon, if maybe someone would let me stay, even if it broke all of the rules. And I wonder if my mother will ever write me back in those journals, and if she’ll be upset that I hate her, and if you can still bury the people that you hate. If you can, how do you bury them, I wonder, and I wonder.
- D5 Isabella Bataille [ heather - d2 [mylee] ]
The call of destiny has always been hard to ignore ever since you learned the truth of your family history, and it's hard to deny that it doesn't have a place here. Not when, in twenty to one odds, one of the Resistance's own children was chosen by pure chance. And not just any child, either, but one who perfectly fits the role needed to give them a chance to make this long con believable. One who ignites the crowd with a fiery speech and places the pieces of your own narrative within easy reach to form the perfect picture.
- D5 Fatima Al Amin [ esther kim d3 {lance} ]
I feel like the first one is always the worst. Then you get used to it. Year after year, the same old same old. It was horrible how used to pain we have all gotten. And as much as I want to save some of the people who get reaped, I don't. I can only volunteer once, I can only die once.
- D6 Peter Webster-Văduva [ @icyhot ]
District Six is a desolate place sometimes, and color fades behind the neutrality of science and facts. He wants to stand out among the rays of white, grey, and black ahead of him to let those who care about him know that he's not scared. He's happy.
- D6 Lucien Grey [ mat ]
Orville lifts his left hand over his lung, arms crossed. He bends slightly at the waist, just enough to brush his lips against the microphone. He closes his eyes tight. And then he whispers, lips stealing the sound from the words uttered deep in his throat. A few hisses escape in the ten seconds he spends praying.
When he blinks tears drip onto his cheekbones.
He basks for a moment in the midday sun. When he steps away from the podium, Orville is ready to greet whatever comes next.
- D7 Orville King [ Baby Wessex d9b [earthling] ]
“All of you, each and every single one of you, is worth fighting for.” He pauses. “You have seen the faces that have passed through here, boys of tremendous strength and girls of unbroken bravery, and all of them fought for you because seven is worth it. We are as strong as the trees we plant, and we are as unbroken as our lands.”
“Seven has been forgotten for far too long, but thanks to whatever it was that drew Alaska to me, I intend to alter that.”
- D7 Rafael Salazar [ napoleon, d2m ₊⊹ 🐁 ɢʀɪғғɪɴ. ]
Dust and rock grit get stuck in the mark she'd made. He thinks about how much he doesn't want to die as she picks him up off his feet.
"I'm sorry."
He apologizes to her. It just sort of slips out, he can't place what he's feeling. Then again he never really has been able to.
- D8 Malaki-Boden W/A [ brad bradford ★ d5b [arx] !! ]
For years he's wallowed around in self pity forcing himself to find anything to draw him out of it. Something changed, something broke inside him, and now it doesn't matter what others think or feel.
Sometimes he wonders if death is better than living in a world where every soul dies both good and bad.
- D8 Canvas Hope [ d9 kristof parks {ems} ]
Someone laughs and I think it's Jude but I can't tell because I can't turn around to look, mister tall dark and stark white is just getting closer, steps dead fucking silent until I can see my reflection in his helmet.
Shit man, why did no one tell me my hair was sticking up?
How is this my life? What is this, what's happening?
I mean, the morning started fine. Dad was a sad sack of shit as usual. Kade did his pre-reaping Babe prayer. Yale did whatever the hell Yale does in their free time. Me? I was up early polishing Lenore because Miko challenged me to a shoot-off after he stole my vape and there was no way he was getting out of it that easy.
And I woulda kicked his ass if it wasn't for Jack fuckin' Price.
Now I'm gonna miss it because I have to go sit in the Justice Building while we figure this out. Miko's probably gonna keep my vape and sell Lenore and then I'll probably have a breakdown.
- D9 Nowles Adroxis [ tick 12a / calla ]
There is nothing. Nothing but the scratch of the pencil, the grit of the graphite, the smell of paper and pencil, the rabbit staring up, waiting for obliteration, the hilarity of death splattered across its rounded face. Oswald does not smile, does not find humor in his own joke, yet he draws it with the intention of a joke.
- D9 Oswald Tove [ doodle :) ]
He claims a spot that should have never been his in the first place, turns towards the crowd and watches their stares meet his own.
blink,
remind yourself to breathe,
tighten a fist and then let it go.
- D10 Bowie Gamble [ pogue ]
I was never a follower of God until now because God chose me to fulfill the prophecy he had begun over 70 years ago. Eyes wondered and feared my direction for the sole fear of being selected to compete to win the crown I was destined to complete.
They didn't have to worry, though. I didn't need to pick anyone. God picked me.
- D10 Sven Katsaros [ thompson harvard - d2b - arc ]
I know how this looks, walking through the crowd to stand on the stage with my newly appointed position as District Eleven Female Tribute. It looks like a girl out of her mind, on the brink of collapse. It looks like a child playing dress-up as a martyr, trying to fit into dresses and shoes far too big for her, for the world.
It looks like the end. But it can’t be. There is no other choice.
- D11 Celeste Brere [ Cait ]
You are pulled up onto the stage. The great ghosts of this District are lined up before you, sat on thrones of victory. Celebrated for murdering the innocent, whilst you're vilified for executing the guilty.
- D11 Kareem Hasim [ rook ]
I looked out into the crowd and bit my lip to fight back the tears - one last look at my home, the home that had betrayed me, the only one I knew. And I reached my hands out and flipped them off, every single one of them. "Fuck ALL of you," I screamed, before my hands were tore away and a Peacekeeper restrained me, taking me into his custody.
"You better hope I don't come back," I added one last comment before my words faded to black and my future was sealed.
- D12 Ellis Gallagher [ bailee ]
The drag in her step made her late, thus placing her at the back of the pack. It was there that Morgan made eye contact with her, an apology glistening in his pupils. Maze didn't move, even knowing what would come to be. "Her. I pick her, I'm sorry."
He didn't know her name. Was that better or worse?
- D12 Maze Armstrong [ Python ]
