P E T E R W E B S T E R - V Ă D U V A
An arena within the arena, ironic, isn't it?
As we approached I ran my free hand that wasn't holding onto Esther along the metal wall - rust and bullet holes was all I felt. Once we entered the pit I instead had my free hand grip my knife. This looked like the perfect spot for some sort of trap or ambush - I wasn't going to let them get the best of me like that. I looked at Esther and Ellis and spoke in a hushed tone, "Be careful, I don't like the look of this place."
Sure it looked somewhat useful - scrap metal and pieces and parts that could be reused, maybe. Most of the stuff towards the entrance looked pretty beat to shit. But who knows, we might get luck. Sure enough as we explored I found a tool box, which definitely gave me hope - especially with the manual from the Bloodbath. And then I found something else, what looked to be mechanical armor that might actually be functional with some repairs. But it only looked big enough for one person, "You two keep looking around, but be careful. Some of this stuff might not be total garbage - I want to see if I can't get this thing working again."
C'mon brain, don't fail me now.
I'll be honest here, I am not a car guy. Big shocker. But, I am a science nerd - physics included. In some of our physics labs and research projects we had to put some simple machines together, how much different could this be? It basically just looked like a giant robot. Okay it was very different, not even in the same ballgame as anything I had ever even seen before. The closest I've gotten is fixing a broken remote controller form my mom, but I can figure something out.
It took a while, but eventually I got it operational. Though that didn't say much. I had to do some more investigating around the area before I got any use out of it. It had a knife attached to it already - which was a start. After snooping around a bit more I was able to find a few miscellaneous supplies, but not anything really for the mech. And then, luckily, a white parachute floated down. Guess the pity points worked, Flynn. Inside was a cannon, some ammo, and some rockets - nice.
But I was a bit worried, knives and ranged weapons weren't exactly my forte - I was more a stab and/or beat target with pointy stick kind of guy. But it was better than nothing. And even if it didn't have much in the way of armor to it it still made me feel better than being completely exposed to the elements. I even took the time to decorate it. I used some cool glow-in-the-dark spray paints to do like a space looking them where the planets and stars actually lit up. I also put a patch that said "player 1" right over where my heart is - irony. And finally some stickers. I thought about throwing them away, but they were cute. So I just stuck them randomly on the mech. I was pretty happy with it when it was all said and done.
After I bit of decorating I decided to check up on Ellis and Esther, "Hey, you two find anything?"
