The tributes awaken in the wake of devastation and- instantly- they can each tell something is not right. Once they get their bearings, they’ll each realize that they are not in the same places they fell asleep in. In fact, they’re in their mech suits now, suspended in the air, swinging freely by the grace of no more than a few rusted chains and the warped beams they’re wrapped around. The cages groan and hiss and warble beneath the tributes’ weight and the wind, and then, all at once, they’re released.
The tributes freefall, surely thankful as ever for what little protection their suits provide as everyone crashes to the ground. The cages are reduced to splinters, the tributes left lying in piles of them. This time when they stand, they’ll notice that, standing all around them are the other tributes. They’re in the Scrapyard, they carefully discern- as if the giant sign hadn’t made it obvious- except it looks notably different than the tributes may remember.
For one, the sections of the bleachers that haven’t fallen through are filled to the brim with The Static- each screen playing fight footage of different fights throughout the games, as well as sponsored advertisements. The Static all sit unmoving, staring straight ahead as if each placed into a trance, or awaiting further command.
If the tributes are able to peel themselves away from that, they’ll next notice the promotional posters of the tributes themselves and their mech suits are littering the entire scrapyard. Posted up on walls, strewn about the ground, a few Static are even posed with posters in their hands.
Suddenly, beautifully, artfully, and undeniably scientifically, the tributes watch as shimmering fields of energy rise up from the gritty, charred sands and begin to divide the scrapyard into sections. They swirl and grow like vines along the surface, all before jutting up like tangible walls of aurora borealis: twenty feet into the air, every color of the rainbow, and as reinforced as a steel wall. Force Fields.
In the direct center of the field, a familiar-looking trophy rises into play on a table. The tributes don’t have to be rocket scientists to figure out what must be coming, and as if they’d been waiting for the tributes to understand, an audience cheer track begins to blare from towering speakers far overhead, and the baritone voice of an announcer begins crooning into the microphone, drawing out each word with dramatic pause:
“WELCOME! TO! DAYYYYYYY! SIX!!!”
D2 Charlotte Bellisario [Kari]
D5 Fatima Al-Amin [Lance]
D6 Peter Webster-Văduva [Birdie]
The faces of the fallen who lit up the sky only last night. Part of you envies them, never knowing what was coming next. 15 still remain. And it’s just been made clear: morality is out the window. At the end of this day, everyone will have either killed or been killed. No more running.
Congrats on surviving Day Five!
The tributes wake up in the Scrapyard, and are divided by force fields and forced to fight as a crowd of The Static watches on, unmoving, and playing footage of earlier fights and highlights from the arena, as well as sponsored advertisements of course.
THE GMS WILL BE STARTING EACH FIGHT. PLEASE WAIT FOR YOUR FIGHT TO BE POSTED BEFORE POSTING!
