"Ahh." Whoever invented almond milk deserves a prize. Harriet made it to the dock shortly after the morning group time with the recruits. This was mostly to find time to look everything over, with an extra five minutes more to chug half her mug away. She'd call it a sugar rush, these days her coffee's nearly white with sugar, but if it'll wake her up enough she'll take the damn migraine.
She can feel it set in as Kip, Hargrave & Carrow peak up in the distance. Okay, okay, game time, she tries to relax for her last 3 minutes. Just take it easy, the chill room's air conditioning makes her arm hair raise every time she takes another warm sip of coffee. Juxtaposition and all that. The last sip is almost nothing but non-calorie sugar and powdered creamer so thick, she thinks it's the stuff they'd ship to barracks back in the 70's.
FYI: It sucks.
Harriet's back cracks as she stands up, and she grits her teeth as she straightens out. It's loud enough to hear over the near-vacant vault they've met up in, large enough to take a minute to cross all the way from the elevator, to the bench in the far right corner she had made her stake out at. "Hello again, everyone," she starts, taking a military stance as they cross their arms and buckle their knees.
Kids these days, they look like slouches.
"Good to know you guys follow instructions," she says in response to the timer buzzing off, "right on time. Today we're going to be stretching our brains and testing the synchronization of the mech-suits. Kip, you may already be familiar but we're testing you just the same. Go into this with an open mind - and I mean that literally, when you are in the suit, focus on the task at hand and that alone. Copy?"
The response comes. Good, stay this alert and you all may stay in one piece. Let's keep it that way.
"First we're going to be testing start up. Take some time to familiarize yourself with your mechs before jumping in, but wait for my go ahead before doing anything... crazy," like shooting a gun, or running in the mech, or hell even activating anything. Stand absolutely still and don't breathe too loud, you'll fog the screen and fuck something up. She turns her back to gather her notes, scribbling along the ridiculously long procedure guideline as the kids make their way to their mechs.
ATTENTION: mech synchronization in progress. A-Team will be starting us off, and once they are finished with the suits we may or may not get to B-Team practice as well. After synchronization, we'll be doing some accuracy tests - both melee and ranged. First, to synchronize, you must pass a [*roll range="1-20"] DC: 10 roll. You have 3 attempts to pass this roll, and if you cannot today, your B-Team counterpart will get to test their hand as you cool off.
