As the Retro Games slowly but surely start to morph into the Games formula that we all know and love today, so too do the activities. Last Games saw the introduction of train rides, as tributes from the same district were able to interact with each other and their mentor, and the beginning of interviews as well! For the Seventh Games, we're keeping both of those and taking it one step further - below, you can find an itinerary of what you and your retro tribute can do in the week leading up to the beginning of the Games!TRAIN RIDES
The first opportunity for tributes to interact with each other after the fateful selection, and for the mentors, if they so choose, to impart their wisdom (or lack thereof) on the tributes! While they aren't yet the decadent spectacles filled with enough food and drink to feed an entire district just yet, they nevertheless mark the first sort of interaction that tributes will have with each other before the Games begin, and are currently the only way for tributes and mentors to interact! Train threads can be started by either tributes or mentors, and can be started at any point between now and the Games!THE GET-TO-KNOW-YOU INTERVIEWS
As of the Seventh, the Games continue their transition from a method to punish the districts in their failed rebellion against the Capitol to a grand spectacle for that very Capitol to enjoy. While the tributes and victors have not yet reached the celebrity status that they're so accustomed to in the modern world, there are many in the Capitol, chief amongst them this year's first set of official Gamemakers, who recognize that it is easier for a tribute to attract and maintain attention if they're more than just a statistic on the television screen. This first attempt to humanize them will take shape as one of the precursors to the pre-games festivities in the form of a one-shot interview between the tribute themselves and one of the many announcers clamoring to become the next best thing. For these games, this will by and large replace the quick-reference tribute summaries that we've been doing for the last few games, and tributes are highly encouraged to complete one so we can learn more about your tribute from an in-character point of view! Obviously, it'd be nearly impossible to answer everything listed there from an in-character standpoint, so tributes can answer as many of those from an in-character standpoint as they desire and then answer the rest in the same old out-of-character standpoint that we've been using for the past six games! That thread will go up soon after this one has been posted, and can be answered as soon as tributes have had their bios written and accepted!SPECIAL INVITATION: GUESTS OF HONOR
The night before the Games, several of the High Council interns, taking advantage of the Capitol's trademark decadence and celebrating their first stint as apprentice Gamemakers, decide to throw a party on the grounds of the very arena itself, as bored, rich, and prodigal teen-and-twenty somethings are wont to do. One of them, of course, had a brilliant idea - why not invite every Capitol it-person to this landmark event, and...what about the tributes themselves, as some sort of twisted "guests of honor" invitation?
This is the first, and currently only, opportunity any tribute will have to interact with any other tribute before the Games begins. Attendance is mandatory for all twenty four, and tributes can use this opportunity to roleplay and develop however they want. Want to follow the Capitolites' example and indulge in the decadence offered? You do you you crazy party animal? Want to act as a wallflower and hide in the corner, away from the attention? You can certainly try, but more than a few Capitolites will no doubt be interested in your presence. Overall, this is an opportunity to schoomze, make connections, and enjoy what will be the last day for twenty three of you alive to the best of your abilities. And who knows? Maybe forging these connections could act as the prelude to something much more...concrete, in the future.
This thread will be started by one of the Gamemakers on Monday at the latest!
