She is there because she has to be. She understands the importance of being there, even when she knew that she had other things that she needed too attend too. Maybe one day she would be able to not participate anymore. She had a feeling that would be when she was no longer breathing.
She was there at the reaping, and she was just relieved that she did not hear any names that she actually recognized. No Morrisen, no Mer's, she would be spared from that trauma yet again. She still, couldnt really accept the fact that Arc was gone, but she would just have to learn to get over it. Arc might have been gone, but she was able to get Nixie out. That was the worst consolation prize that she could think of. However, she would never tell Nixie that.
She was still proud of her.
The fact that in ten years, she has now had three victors under her wing? it still baffles her, and she is sure that Leon is enjoying his much needed time out of the limelight. They all file into the train, and Annie is just happy to be there. She knew all too well to let the younger ones take the lead here, because at the end of the day, they were all survivors.
She decides to sit at one of the empty tables at the middle of the train car, giving herself enough room to let someone come up to her. She was still full of knowledge, even though she had to split her mind between two very different things now. She was fine with fading into the background anyway.
There were far more important things than dealing with the machinations of the capitol.
