She observes the plants in front of her, each increasingly more similar to the last. Kassia was starting to understand that the slightest difference in leaf shape could result in wildly different reactions. One that had been specifically engineered for the games to look nearly identical to an edible plant, but if you ate it you would die within an hour.
Despite the confusion, she spent time pouring over each one, taking notes on a little pad in front of her. It was what she did whenever she was working on a new algorithm, if a function wasn't working, she would break it apart piece by piece in a notebook. These sketches weren't too different besides the fact that if she got an algorithm wrong, the algorithm wouldn't stop the oxygen from getting to her brain.
Breaking from her thoughts, she noticed that someone had joined her in taking a break from the sword wielding and axe throwing.
"I swear, after spending all this time in here, if I eat the wrong plant, I'll haunt the gamemakers for fun. It'd be the worst way to go."
She chuckles, trying to be lighthearted. Whoever this was, she likely didn't volunteer to be put here. Kassia on the other hand, decided to take the chance to meet death. And, as she increasingly gets to know some of the other tributes better, the probability of survival appears to be decreasing rapidly.
"Three doesn't really have any wildlife so it feels like this training station is just failing to teach an old tribute new tricks. You have any plants where you're from?"
