ilex zan . down with the sickness
Erratic behavior. Becoming prone to violence. They were simply symptoms of the rose plague. It was natural for Ilex to want to feel the need to hit something or someone at this point, right? He'd been through a lot of shit, after all. Someone tried to waterboard him with wine last year, and now he had the damn plague, for fuck's sake. He'd simply had enough.
Ilex was always rather particular about what rules he was willing to break. He wouldn't leave the quarantine part of the District residences, but he would leave the house he was staying in, in order to get some fresh air. Maybe, just maybe, he could get his mind off of this urge to just slug something across the room, because damn was that a strong urge right then.
As he walked, though, he heard whispers. The whispers floated through the air, calling his name and hissing words he didn't want to hear. That's when he saw someone. Surely, she must've been the source of these whispers. These words. These insults.
She was the one talking shit about him, surely.
He quickly picked up his pace, as if trying to intimidate the girl as he went right toward her. His feet came to a quick stop directly in front of her, and his words came out sharp.
"You wanna say that again?"
His jaw was clenched. His fists were clenched. He was ready to make a move if he deemed it the time. Surely now was the time. Surely this girl deserved it, right? He damn well hoped she did. He'd never felt this much of an urge to fight someone, and he wasn't sure if he could stop it.
Ilex tried to calm himself for a moment.
Chill out, dude. Maybe she didn't say anything at all. That's possible, right? He tried to question himself. No. It had to have been her. She needs to learn to keep her mouth shut. Although it seemed he couldn't even get himself to back down. Seething, he wanted the adrenaline of delivering a punch. Still, he'd wait to see what she had to say, at least for a moment. Maybe she'd make a case for herself. Maybe.
