midnights ; elle v copycat

She reminds kitty of the ocean. Golden sand giving way to the murky depths of whatever savagery hid beneath frothing waves. There is no hesitation in her strike, self assured violence as her axe scrapes against their flank. They purr as they stagger back a few steps, closing their eyes so that they may memorize the taste.

It’s always a rush. The world fades out of focus around them as their attention turns toward the storm within. Rearranging little pieces of them until the thin blade their tail had mimicked not moments before resembles the weapon the girl made of sunshine had just used to wound.

They hare their teeth at her, one eye popping out of it’s socket as it circled behind her. It’s hard to keep focus on all parts of you when you’re made up of molecules very intent on not existing. They shake their head a few times, until their eyeball snaps back into place and they can see the throat they lunge for.

Kitty was not meant to win this battle, but they will die trying.

It shies away from pain, slinking in between Elle's feet and until she can escape the bite of that silver blade. Kitty has never considered dying to be a possibility - how does one understand such complicated concepts when they hardly understand their own existence.

Perhaps they hold a kinship with their prey, in this way. They are both confused and hurting, they are both aimless as they force themselves to fight in a war that has never been about them. Born to die for a greater good. Seems an awful way to go.

Kitty scales the den wall, pouncing toward Elle with renewed vigor.

They'll make themselves a warrior.
