Anthem - Day 7

Something's wrong.

It's a whisper on the winds, a sing-songy melody that invades your senses. You cannot help but recall the poison sitting pretty in your veins. Did you get too comfortable? Did you forget that you're nowhere near the monster they want you to be?

You expect night to fall as it has every other night for the last six days.

Some instinctual foreboding settles in your gut. Smug and gloating and so very excited to see what happens next.

SOMETHING'S WRONG.

Dusk has not quite left before the anthem begins to play. You see your fellow tributes faces projected on that rusty horizon, perhaps not too unlike their faces were in their final moments. That's nine tributes left, eight more victims.

It's a full moon tonight.

More than it's shape, however, you notice it's color. The moon is a brilliant scarlet glowing against the night sky. It seems not even the stars dared show their faces lest they steal some of it's glory.

The change begins soon after. It starts as an uncomfortable prickling sensation. Like worms have wriggled beneath your skin and are trying to chew away at the squishy bits within. If the change was once an uncomfortable weight, it now gnaws. Frantic agony that makes it almost impossible to focus on anything else.

You are so close to perfection, little tributes.

Give in to the bloodlust, or else it might just kill you first.
