The world tells you to be yourself, but what happens when who you are right now is not your self? People change, and that's a rule set in stone. But some people aren't changing, they're just showing you exactly who they've always been, but they were too afraid to show it sooner.

Robey was always a little unsure of how to navigate this world until he was old enough to realize it was miserable. Walking on eggshells is out of style. Living for other people is old news. He does feel bad for Pip though - he thought he enjoyed the magic act, but really he enjoyed how it made her feel. Her smile made it okay for a long time. Not forever, though.

Yeah, he had to drop the act. Can't leech on someone else's happiness forever, have to make your own. He didn't mean to ruin her happiness in the process. If that's what happened. Can't be too sure. It bugs him at night sometimes, but thinking about how often he smiles now keeps him from regretting the decision entirely. Skateboarding and adrenaline and doing is own thing is what makes him happy. A whole solo act. Nobody to direct him or tell him what he can and can't do - and if he messes up, he doesn't take someone else down with him. It's the perfect formula, and whoever thinks otherwise be damned. Robey is going to skateboard to hell and back. Right out of his place and into the world beyond.

And then he can forget all about what he has done.
