Some kind of message lies under your skin

It was going to be an extravagant night.

Our parties always were. We are extravagant people with extravagant taste, so our family loved to have us host. It was no bother really, just an excuse to show off.

I loved it.

Show off the house, our outfits, and of course, my undeniably talented skill set. The family loved hearing about my predictions. There were riveting, and who doesn’t want to know the future? They always looked forward to my long and detailed explanations about when and how they were going to die.

The clouds told me so.

The day before however, was a clear sky. Now, some may be naïve enough to think that means a perfect evening, but I knew better. These nights never finished without some type of drama. I descended the stairs in my best outfit, a midnight blue dress, hair pinned up with a few delicate pieces framing my face. My hands were fiddling with the place settings when I feel a gentle tap on my shoulder followed by my brother’s voice. I finish placing the napkin before turning to him with a smile which immediately turns into a frown.

”I need to talk to you about something I lost last night. It’s about today’s…endeavors,”

”Oh? The sky was clear yesterday, so I learned little next to nothing. Please, share what you have learned,” I whisper back while fiddling with the loose fabric on my dress.

It was infuriating knowing I could have seen something to help.

But this time, the clouds failed me.
