It should be over, but it doesn’t feel like it. A plague is still trouncing across Panem, the origin of which is back home. We both have Kiko and Izzy to handover, back home. It is not like we have just twenty-three to mourn this time round either. It has been a bit of a shit show this year and well, I am so fed up and over it than I should really be. I can’t say same shit, different year this year, more like a whole lotta shit, different year.

Everyone is beginning to pack up in the Capitol, there is a train scheduled for us in the morning and I am the most excited I have ever been to step foot on that platform. I have an unopened bottle of some brown liquor that was gifted to me last year and I accidentally left behind. Maybe right now would be a good time to break the seal. I hold the bottle by its neck in one hand and clink two glasses between my fingers in the other.

For so long, I have been a bit too hard on my neighbor but now five years down the line, I understand the cracks and the pressures.

I slide onto the couch next to where Teddy is sitting, while a bunch of avoxes walk back and forth with random pieces of furniture and cleaning equipment. ”They are a bit eager to get us kicked out this year, I have never seen them pack away this early…” I say, placing the bottle and glasses on the lounge table in front of us. ”I am not sure what this is but I think we need it after the past few weeks.” I don’t wait for Teddy to accept the drink before popping open the bottle and pouring equal measures for us both.

Everything burns. His skin, his mind, his heart. All of him burns into this mess of pressure that's growing too heavy to carry. Spilling his guts out to the public trying to save face for Six, but all of his words taste bland, tasteless, or empty. A growing number of eyes on him waiting to see the final break of his own shoulders. The plaster smile feeling too much. A mask to hide the truth of Teddy Ursa's guilt. Karma. He tells himself. A cut that always bleeds. Lux's sister's words continue to ring even after all the years of work. They cut as deep as ever when he thinks them.

Everyone around him is packing things away with a certain speed. Almost as if they're tainted by the plague, the death, and their home. Six was in shambles in comparison to others. Hit the hardest by the plague due to it's origins coming from home. Days spent hallucinating his own games over and over. Memories dredged up by an illness. He can still feel the heat against his skin, the burn of his missing leg, and Emberly Lowe's death. Saffron. He should reach out. But, his hands can't even manage to move from his lap, eyes fading away in a distant look. He doesn't notice the other victor of Six, sliding next to him. The couch dipping with weight as Teddy just lets himself falter.

The bottle is set in front of them, glasses in Flynn's hands setting onto the long table. Teddy can hear the younger victor's words, but his throat feels tight. Patricia is dead. Six is plagued. Izzy is dead. It's all his fault. It's always his fault. He's never been enough for Six. "Yeah... I've not seen them pack this early either..." Truly, he had a feeling the speed was from the plague and Patricia's death. "Yeah. We could use a drink..." Tipping back his glass, he swallows a large gulp of his glass before continuing. "I wonder if it's because they think we're tainted by the plague. Get rid of the district still hurting."
