Hello one and all! As many of you know, each of Panem’s districts has chief exports for which they are expected to provide some sort of good or service to the Capitol and its residents, as well as all of greater Panem. Through the years, these industries have changed a number of times to suit the needs of the residents- like how sometime before District Six’s export became medicine, it was once water treatment, or how District Nine had a brief stint with hunting as its chief export to fight back against growing muttation populations in the late 40's and early 50's. But it has been quite some time, modernly speaking, since an industry has been updated. As a result, for part of this year’s Ratmas celebrations, we are going to be holding an official District Industry Update!
So, how will it work?
I will be posting a form for you to detail which districts you feel might need new exports, and which you think are good as they are. I’ll also be including an area for you to suggest as many potential new industries as your heart desires! Once enough time has passed, I’ll tally the votes and if a district has more “change” votes than “stay the same” then that district will be one of the recipients of our new industries!
But, as a way of leading the charge and also to send a very, very clear message to those living there, some districts' industrial fate is already decided. District Nine’s new chief export moving forward will be Peacekeepers and Law Enforcement. All other Peacekeeper Training Academies (PTA’s) across Panem have been shut down already or are in the process of doing so now, and over the next several months residents in Nine will be witness to and perhaps hired to assist in developing the various huge warehouse factories and refineries into brand new schools and facilities for peacekeepers.
From now on, rather than going to the Capitol or District Two, ALL peacekeepers will go to District Nine for their training, and it will now be promoted as the primary career of choice for students in attendance at school there. The transition can be as messy and cruel or simple and fun as you’d like for it to be, but know that the message being sent to District Nine is quite clear: This War is Not One You Will Win. For every rebel, there will be three keepers to stop them. For every gang, a squadron twice the size to level the threat. Gone are the days of crime and resistance in District Nine. Gone are the days of rebellion.
District Two, for losing one of its two main exports, will also see a significant increase in Waste Processing career options. This will cover things like water treatment, sanitization, and recycling. If the updates are being used to send messages, then the one being sent to District Two is clear as well: you're no longer the favorite. The luxury of being the most industrialized District is now the easiest excuse given when people ask why District Two of all places is going to be sorting through garbage, but the truth is that the Capitol wished to have its industry reflect its recent Games performance. Plus, it's good for the environment. (:
Keep in mind that Districts Two and Nine are both going to be omitted from this list, as they are already scheduled to update their industries no matter what.
For filling out this form, you will automatically get 3 points for your house! You may resubmit as many times as you would like with new suggestions, but please note that you will only get points once!
This form will close in two days, on January 11th at around noon pst. The link can be found HERE.
Thank you all, and Merry Ratmas! If you have any additional questions, please dm one of us privately here on the site or on slack! <3
