even as a kid, holden did not understand the industry that was district five. some said it was because he was just a little too stupid to understand the concept of renewable energy. his parents were both cooks at the local school cafeteria, and they never really made it a point for him to learn anything more advanced then how to make basic meals for himself.

however, holden had always been the type of person to show up when he needed too. in school, he did not understand anything advanced, but that did not stop him from learning. of course, a boy had motivated him, but he did not attribute that to his understanding of complex math problems that were presented to him. it was always the same thing for him, take a moment, digest, and then work through the problem as precisely as he could.

his critical thinking skills were leagues ahead of anyone else in his class. he eventually learned what each renewable energy source was, but he particularly got the hang of anything that had to do with solar power.

in his head, he felt like he could hold the sun, and in his hands, he felt like he was doing his part to keep his district under the radar from the capitol.

as for the boy that interested him?

well, he was his boss now.
