Allard Sr.'s meagre assets are immediately liquified and transferred to his only son. That money cycles through the institution briefly and then hits an account number that no longer exists. It bounces back. The account had already closed three months prior. Maxim's been dead for four.

With no living children or close relatives, the bank bypasses the inheritance clause and arranges a transfer according to Maxim Allard's only will - a halfhearted scrawl of red ink on the back of a take-out menu.

In June, the entire life savings of two generations is transferred to one Mr. Cyrus Wright.
