LOST FUTURE
PROJECTA country ruled by its own bias divides its people and creates uncrossable boundaries between them. Fences are erected as a visual tool but people will always find a way around these obstacles. Stubborn until the end, the people of the country grow like weeds through concrete, rising again and again to thrive.
This plot is for the lost children of nomadic communities that up until the 80’s, lived peacefully as wanderers, somehow having slipped through the cracks during the dark days to build their homes and lives apart from Snow’s rule. For awhile, there was understanding between these nomadic people and the Capitol but Snow’s death brought a new era and an iron curtain that came down on their idyllic lives.
Some council members saw these peoples and found an opportunity within them.
For two years, these nomadic people, these wanderers were tracked down and taken. Those that had years left were taken and avowed for their crime of living outside the fences. Many resisted and died doing so, many were too old to be useful and were given manual labour tasks until their eventual death.
As for their children, those young enough to be used were entered into Project Future, a program operating out of the bowels of District Two’s underground peackeeper training facility.
Children were collected from their homes, branded and trained to become perfect weapons. Training was brutal to the point where it wasn't uncommon for children to die from it over the years.
When Peacekeeper Facilities moved to District Nine in the recent past, this unit was liquidized. Those deemed too feral, too broken from their life in chains beneath the ground, were put to death. Some were Avoxed, while a handful of them escaped this fate for reasons unknown to them and were simply sent back home.
With no way of communicating with the people who over the long years have become their only family, they’ve been dropped in a vaguely familiar but unknown land and told that this is ‘home.’THESE ARE THEIR STORIES
44 / [name open] - sixteen - played by [open]
This character is from a nomadic people that lived in the mountains around Two. They were taken from their people at the age of eight and have spent half their life in captivity. Softness was attempted to be squashed out of them but somehow, despite everything, they have retained their gentle kindness. They were allowed to survive liquidation due to their pacifist nature. Is it all a front though or are they really that kind? They watched their home burn around them, they have never forgotten what that felt like.
05/ [name open] - seventeen - played by [open]
This character is from a seafaring people that lived in and around District Four. They were taken at the age of seven and have strong memories of their life before being taken. Careful always, they think before they act and are known to be reliable and level-headed. This is often a front though for the trauma that they carry. They see themselves as someone who has to keep the peace though without fail and was always a good anchor in ila’s storm. They hope that their people are still out there and will stop at nothing to find them.
27 / [name open] - sixteen - played by [open]
This character is from a people that lived deep in the woods within District Seven as well as outside of it. They built their homes within the ancient redwoods and had walkways along the treetops. They’re a thrill seeker and was often found on the climbing wall in the facility’s expansive training gym. Fortunately, their home was never actually found due to their community’s nature and while the authorities tried to question them, they were taken at three years old after being found alone and claimed a foggy memory. Still, they know exactly where home is and ache to get back to it.
13 / [name open] - eighteen - played by [open]
Unlucky number 13, they came from a people that lived on the outskirts of District Nine. They were taken at the age of eight but their early life only comes to them in flashes due to head trauma sustained during the destruction of their community. With the liquidation, they were simply brought back to Nine and registered as a peacekeeper recruit. However, they’re miles above their fellow recruits in skill level and do not fit in. Always the perfect little soldier for the program, they’re now struggling to be a human being. Will they continue to be the Capitol’s tool or drop out to find their way?
01 / ila - seventeen - played by ele
ila is from a nomadic people that lived in and around the Northern parts of District Ten. She was taken at the age of Five and was in captivity from then until the liquidation 12 years later. Of keen mind and skill, she was a near perfect weapon if it wasn’t for her mouth. Since being there from so young, she grew protective of everyone that came after her and would take responsibility for their transgressions and has scars to show it. Thick-skinned and full of barely contained fury, she only made it out alive due to the director of the program’s soft spot for her.THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
* This time, this plot is NOT first come first serve and will be done via application. The subject matter is sensitive and intended to highlight through dystopian fiction the pain involved in colonization/imperialism. Any illusion to a real person is not intentional. I encourage research + care when writing in this plot. (please don't be intimidated by that ah ha! Learning is fun!)
* I am open to more characters from different districts if there is interest for this plot! Before more characters are added though I would prefer the open 4 to be taken.
* All of these characters were previously unregistered within Panem’s systems due to the nature of their origin and then the secrecy of the project they were in. Now that they’ve been returned, they’ve been given an identity and entered into the reaping.
* Plotting is up to you as are relationship dynamics between all characters. 0 attachment and never speaking to each other again is just as fine as a desperate attempt to reunite.
* I would appreciate the use of face claims who are aboriginal or first nations within their continent of origin – anywhere in the world – for this plot! If you're struggling to find an fc I am happy to help.[font size="1"][b]Username:[/b]
