I carry the pile of Johnny’s dirty laundry from the train’s bathroom. Where exactly I meant to take this, I have no idea. Instead of venturing up and down the carriages searching for an avox, I dump the pile in the luggage carriage, next to where my case is. I pull out a few pieces of my own clean clothes that may fit him and leave them outside the bathroom door.
It does not feel like it is over yet but it felt good to let a little of the steam out, before facing the rest of what is to come. The journey is just beginning and these train tracks will not be the longest ride. There are two others waiting for me a few carriages down, not showing my face and visibly neglecting the other tribute for Johnny may not be good for either of us.
No volunteers this year, at least the District has come to its senses. I can’t speak for myself though.
I run my fingers along the carriage windows, making my way down to the lounge section as I am walking in the opposite direction as to where the train is going. I just really hope Teddy has everything sorted for the other tribute, thinking about a second one right now. There is just no room in my mind to carry the two of them. It fucking sucks. Amaterasu deserves just as much attention as Johnny, if not more than that bastard. But I just cannot find anything inside of me to give her right now.
As I step into the lounge, I force a smile onto my face. Hopefully the rumbles of the metal tracks and the loud humming of the train’s engine deafened the sound of Johnny and I arguing. Probably not a great start to the journey.
”Sorry for disappearing.” i say as I sit on one of the leather armchairs, declining a tray of fruits that an avox immediately shoves into my face. ”Johnny has decided to have a wash before reaching the Capitol. I forgot to tell him the stylists will be using a pressure washer on him when we reach them anyway.” I look over to Ama, the first time I have acknowledged the second tribute of District Six. ”They won’t need to use one on you though, I am sure. I hope Teddy has settled you in already?” Eyes then dash towards the older victor, hoping that everything as been handled and I can just sink into this chair with my erupting brain.Rave
