Something about this place brings a smile to his face, and Maverick isn't sure why, but right now it's one of the last things he wants to experience. Smiling in a place like this will only end in pain, yet this easily could be one of his last days alive. Maybe that's the difference, maybe that's why he's smiling because he knows his heart could stop beating at any given moment. All it takes is one wrong movement.
Death is terrifying, but Maverick is slowly warming up to the idea of falling asleep forever.
It's brutal and harsh, yet it's the reality he faces. Death could become his new best friend, so why not welcome it with open arms?
Nobody knows what happens when someone dies because nobody has been able to return to share the stories of the next life. Is it darkness? Is someone asleep forever? Is there a new world? All of these are questions he yearns to know the answer to, but Maverick isn't ready to die. Is anyone?
It's a consequence of his actions for saving the life of someone he cares about, but maybe it wasn't worth it. Dying just brings an untimely end, but since everyone has to die anyway, does it matter if his time comes sooner than he hoped? A heavy sigh leaves his chest as he continues his journey. Hope may seem lost, yet with each beat of his heart comes a flame that grows larger with every passing moment. As long as his heart is beating, Maverick plans to keep all hope alive until hope no longer exists.
