The sun dips over the horizon; an ending to a day where the story continues.
The night is warm, filled with the humid heat of a storm raging around them. Crackling electricity in the shallows of the stream, they've taken up camp near. His feet no longer submerged in the water from before. Instead, Dyno Moreno resides alone in the warmth of the night. Eyes staring to the sky as anthem comes and goes with no dead. Twenty three others still live. The taste of disappointment heavy on his lips as he grimaces at the turnout. Death would come. Whether he had to kill them all to keep the Capitol happy or not, he'd do whatever had to be done for the crown. Dreams of his childhood where he'd held a wooden sword with his sister, clashing in joking ways saying the most cringe one liners they could come up with. Laughter on their lips until the moon came out and his mother would grab them by the cartilage of their ears and drag them inside.
A smile on his lips as he crosses his legs in front of him, katana by his side as he bundles closer to his chest as he stares out into the night. The others are in various stages of awake and asleep. Their breaths gently drift with the breeze of a day filled with too many thoughts. The plan he's gotten to carry out is in the slow stages. The silence of the night before his own groundwork has to be made. Lips still tingle with a certain boredom as Karl from Eleven comes through his head. A flash of the guy who's still a mystery by all means. The taste of ink on the edges of his lips are all he needs to keep his eyes focused on the surrounding area, avoiding the thoughts of a boy who's just a game.
Maverick's snoring across the way. A loud ruffling sound of air escaping lungs as Dyno grimaces. Others would be able to hear that from a good bit away. Easy to give out their location. He should wake the other. Tell him to sleep lighter for the sake of their shelter, but they needed their rest. Even if there'd been no kills, Dyno knew his alliance would have to kill soon. Make a name for themselves to all of Panem for the sake of fame and usefulness. Dyno Moreno wouldn't go down as a failure by any means. No, he wanted to be bigger than everyone else. Slipping open his journal, he reads over his own words. Scrawl in the looping swirls of his own writing from years past. Poems, short fiction, and novellas of all sorts. Time's gone past and left his own journal worn down with the past.
A swirling drawing of a spiral sitting in the corner, tracing his finger against the pattern to keep awake. Memories of One where he'd spent nights in beds of boys who'd wanted his heart, but Dyno Moreno wasn't meant to be loved. Not as a career, but as a victor. The crown was the only important thing to his life. No one is going to get in his way, not even his own alliance. They're just means to an end. Except, he's watching Maverick snoring. Duke's discovery of the sharp weapon. The relief on Duke's face about the mares of lightning. There's a softening of his heart as he remembers the quiet conversation with his sister in the dead of night or early morning.
The hour passes with a glittering moon as the crackling energy surrounds him. Dyno's gripping the journal back into his pack as he clambers up finishing his watch. Maverick's snoring becomes louder as he comes closer. A sigh from his lips flows gently before Dyno kicks the four for a second, trying to wake the other. A breathy voice slips forward in a way that causes Dyno to stop for a second. "What the fuck man?" The other career rolls over, heading back to slumber. A little quieter as Dyno lets himself smile slightly before curling up to a patch of dry ground himself, using his pack as a pillow before seeing the moon one last time. Everything goes dark then.
The morning is a slow clambering mess of a stretch and the loudness of a storm rising higher. His eyes focus on the clouds rising up towards the mountains, catching sight of some birds. Electricity hums in the air as he feels his hand get shocked slightly on one of the nearby stray trees. Grimacing at the shock, he moves back to his pack pulling out his journal, reading the steps to starting a morning right. Stretch. Check. Read his daily checklist. Check. Make sure they're all whole. Check.
Hearing Rene nearby, he doesn't look up as he speaks, knowing how she'd been tossing and turning all night long. "Long night?" There's a teasing smile on his lips. Maverick was a snoring fiend. The guy didn't even know how loud he was through the night, but Dyno could understand. Knowing they'd all survived bloodbath was a good sign, but he didn't like that none of the tributes had died. Too many faces left in the arena. Too many possible enemies to be made. Rene's voice is filled with a certain annoyance. Or that's what he thought.
"Yeah kind of hard to sleep in a place like this. Mav's snoring kept me up." Wanting to chuckle to himself, he bites down the feeling before Rene gives him a look before speaking once more. "You? Did you have a long night?" A long night. They all had a long night, but Dyno was used to long nights. Writing everything in his head before he crashes. Most thoughts racing a million miles an hour around his skull, until he rests them. In the arena, he's found his head too quiet like the rest of the place. A laugh falls from his lips before he continues.
"Definitely a snoring monster. Kicked him awake at some point because he was so loud." Looking up from his journal, packing it away. He looks to Rene before he stands up getting his stuff together. "Nope. After the first watch, I slept well. Not much to do when there's no one else around." Rene's going to struggle if Maverick continues to snore every night. A laugh on his lips as he looks around to the others hoping they get the picture. It was time to move on. The blood would come. Inked pages filled with their blood and sweat. Holding the katana at his side, he looks around before hearing Rene again.
"Yeah that's true I suppose. Maybe we can sleep tonight and let Mav stay watch. I think he's earned it."
A laugh falls from his lips as he places a hand on her shoulder and taps his own head with the hilt of his katana. "Great minds think alike. Then you might be able to catch a couple hours." Stepping away, he leads the group ahead. Steady and close, they move quietly past the stream. Rain begins to pour over their heads and Dyno can feel the chill starting to get in. Walking leads to an eerie silence as if the storm above is waiting to strike. The hum of electricity in the air was shocking in a way. Wondering if they'd get shocked, he stays quiet about the atmosphere around them.
Orange and white flashes of fish linger beneath the water they've found. Swimming in time with the air still humming around them. Rain drops pluck out of the pond leaving ripples that hide a lot of the fish below. The maple red leaves drip with water as Dyno leads his group closer to the bridges there. Out of them, he'd been there the other day. Karl's lips still feeling like a flash of a past long since past, but only having happened just yesterday. Should have killed the boy. There would have been blood, but now he has to deal with whatever comes next. Instead, he notices they're not alone this time. No, Dyno Moreno can see others in the distance.
Hope is the first one to notice. The eight was a legacy like himself filled with expectations of a past so long and so dead that he should write her off, but he knows better than to write a Hope off. The next is Forrester. Their spar in his mind as he smirks to himself. An electricity in the air hums with him as he holds a hand up to stop his group and whispers quietly to them. "Alliance ahead. Four targets. Hope and Forrester are there. Strike fast, let's give the Capitol what they want." Holding his hand down, he silently moves around one of the trees, avoiding touching the trunk.
Instead, he rushes quickly. Feet on the bridge, thudding with his entire movement as he pushes forward with a glint in his eyes. Words on the air, humming with the electricity of the storm above. "Oh look at what I've found." There's an electricity humming in his veins as he remembers the ink scrawled in his journals. Legacies were meant to be laid to ruin. He would bring them all crashing down. Only his legend could remain. "A Forrester, a Hope, a Ten, and an Eight!" As he comes closer, he pulls the katana back, noticing the way it curves with his eyes glinting with the pretty silence of the air.
"Let's see how fast you can react, Forrester." Swinging the katana, he pushes forward with all of his momentum pushing the blade as deep as he can. His entire body is pushing against Seven as he wants them to go over the rails of the bridge. In the water, Dyno Moreno wanted to slow her down. The smirk on his lips is filled with all the frustrations he's had as a kid, watching as so many Ones just continue to fail over and over. Svetlana Forrester was a threat. Despite their spar, he could tell she's much more threatening than the rest of them. Taking her out of the picture would change the momentum already.
"I want to see you bleed."
A dark laugh leaves his throat as he goes over the edge, taking her with him.
Time slows as the water comes closer.
Splash.
