The threat of the storm seems to have subsided. The fog has dispersed, the humidity has finally cooled for the first time in nine long days. There is a moment of peace, maybe even the slightest moment of hope. But you know better, you know whatever the Gamemakers have planned is right around the corner. It's silent, until you hear the footsteps of a fellow tribute. The two of you are able to have a moment of normalcy, a moment to talk, perhaps even a moment to grieve. But deep down, you know it is too good to be true. The sky above you begins to light up, and you know what must come next. The night sky is cloudless, stars twinkle brightly as you watch the faces of the fallen appear before you.Nine days.
Nine long days. Weeks of preparation. Little sleep.
And soon, only one will remain.
The headquarters buzzes with excitement. A contagious energy seems to flit through the air, one that will only be satiated with death. Sloane paces nervously, but she was a women of disguise, so those who watched would think she was pacing stoically instead, surveying the land. In reality, the end was imminent.
And it terrified her.
Her breath caught in her throat, but she forced herself to swallow it down before turning to her fellow Gamemakers and plastering a big smile across her face.
"Well ladies," she says joyfully, placing an arm around both. "It's our grand finale."
Ruby smiles back at her with a mischievous grin. "Let's see who comes out on top," she pauses for a beat. "And let's make sure this fight is a good one."
Sloane removes her arms, takes a step back, and examines the two other women, in particular Chanel. She eyes her as she speaks again. "I think we make this something spectacular, something no one will ever forget."
It appears to take everything in Chanel not to roll her eyes to the back of her head. "As if we could," she reeks of whiskey as speaks , the smell wafting off her in waves. The scent is so potent, Sloane was almost certain those across the room could smell her too. The Head Gamemaker smirks at the younger girl before speaking. "I see you've already started celebrating...wonderful!"
"Never stopped," she says, a fake smile plastered across her lips.
"Well let's get to it!" Sloane says as she claps her hands together. She so badly wanted to help Soto, to make her successful.
But she had learned the hard way once before.
Some people just aren't worth saving.
Haizea Rose-Izar, District Eleven
Brennan Fitzgerald, District Three
Their faces fade, then the lights seem to shut off, all at once. The stars go out and you're cast into sudden darkness, not a source of light to be seen. It washes over you in a wave, giving off its purple, electrical sparks as it engulfs you, separating you from the only other human in sight. You wander until eventually you can no longer feel your feet. The exhausted sleep is almost a peaceful one, except for the taunts of dead tributes in your dreams. Finally you wake and find yourself on a rock floating in the air, similar to the ones from just a few days before, but this one has no clear escape.
You know here you will either live or you will die.
There is no escape but home.
The sky is a cloudless mixture of pink and orange, but the sun seems to be hidden. There's a phrase that runs through your head 'red sky in morning, sailor's warning' and you wonder if it's a hidden message from the Gamemakers. You manage to peer out over the edge and can see the arena, but it's different than what you have come to know. The cherry blossom tress no longer have flowers, the ruins have crumbled completely, and the stream runs dry.
You stare.
Thunder rings in your ears, purple lightening crackles in the distance.
A warning.
There will be bloodshed.
The Gamemakers will be sure of it.
2 still alive. 1 must die before one of them can hope to return home.
Congratulations, tributes, on surviving Day 8!

CLIMATE.
The storm has finally broken and you can see the beautiful colors of the sky. The dawn burns a mixture of pinks and oranges, occasionally cracks of purple lightening spark through the sky followed by the rumble of thunder in the distance. The storm has passed, but another one sits on the horizon. The temperature is warm, but feels cooler than most days due to the drop in humidity.
Temperature: 79°F/26°C
Humidity: Moderate
