80.5th Hunger Games Arena
Empty Box Fortress
In the back of the arena, tributes will find a mountain of boxes that seem to have been thrown around. Upon further inspection, all of the boxes are completely empty with nothing in them, except for the strange labels on the side that seem to be in a different language other than emoji. Scratch marks can be seen upon a majority of the boxes, what could it be? Or are you just seeing things?
Greatest Free Sample Table of All Time
In the center of the map lies a location incomparable to all others: the Greatest Free Sample Table of All Time. Spread across this Very Large and Sturdy table, you’ll find piles and piles of free samples of various quality. Small cups of juice and coffee, morsels of sausage, pieces of toaster pastry… truly, the abundance is endless. Among the piles of samples, you’ll find what you need to survive, and some things that… well, you’ll figure out how to use along the way, somehow.
$1000 Impulse Buys
Directly adjacent to the free sample table, tributes will find an odd mix of items that seem to have nothing in common. Unfortunately for you, none of them seem to have any real use for surviving, but they’re interesting enough. There’s giant sheds, hoards of various electronics, comfy furniture, playgrounds for tiny children, and even some jewelry, if you’re feeling fancy! You might even stumble upon the occasional kayak. What do these items have in common? Who knows!
Dry Goods and Grocery
Along the wall that also shares the Food Court, tributes will find aisles and aisles of boxes, cans, and containers carrying who knows what. Aisles are clearly labeled at the top with a hanging sign. As tributes go down aisles, they will see everything from baking goods to a produce section to the infamous aisle thirteen which has a “wet floor” sign clearly marked from a past spill. On the very end, closer to the Cooler Section, tributes will find the alcohol aisle with large bottles of every alcohol they could imagine.
Food Court
If there were any kind of tangible exit to the Arena aside from the sweet release of death, it might be near the Food Court. Unfortunately for you, Most Tributes, there’s no getting out of this capitalist hellscape alive. On the bright side, there’s always the advertised $1.50 Hot Dog/Soda combo. Though there’s not anyone manning the kitchen, you can always make a Hot Dog for yourself and have a nice meal. You might even scavenge food from the various vending machines, or raid the ice cream machine behind the counter. Whatever your choice of meal, there are tables scattered around, ensuring that your stay here lasts just a little longer.
Checkout
To the left of the Customer Service desk, tributes will stumble upon an area that doesn’t make a lot of sense. There are a series of… checkout stations? Only… there’s nobody attending them, only a single robot with the label Manager attached to a collared shirt. It flits between checkout stations, eyeing the tributes and occasionally veering off to have some sort of communication with the Customer Service robot. Each checkout station is just as you might expect: conveyor belts, cash registers full of cash, and even an intercom system…
Customer Service
Upon arrival at the Customer Service desk, tributes will find an eerie human-like robot, standing at attention among a number of spinny chairs. You think the robot’s a she based upon her long hair and dress, but then again, this is a robot and gender is a social construct anyway. The robot waits behind the desk in front of a pile of forms and pencils. When you examine the forms closer, you find a detailed paper that states nothing but Please file a complaint. A single slot labeled Complaint Box rests at the edge of the desk.
Cooler Section
Along the walls of this part of the arena, tributes will feel a chill run up their spine. Lines of food from meats to dairy products rest with an eerie look as if something was a little off. An opening comes as tributes push along the wall where the meats rest, behind the goods is a dark, cold room where slumps of meat lay, cold and dead, a cutting table rests in the center of that dark, cold room. As tributes move along the wall, they’ll see an opening of a bakery with assortments of muffins and every flavor of pastry a person could imagine. Behind the counter is an area where it’s clearly marked as a bakery and a microwave sits along the counter’s edge.
