New Member Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I create a character?
Character biographies must be submitted in the character creation board where they will be reviewed by a member of staff. There is a guide linked here on how to create an acceptable character.

2. Can I create a victor?
The following characters cannot be created unless special measures are followed: Victors, Tributes, Tribute relatives, Stylists/Escorts, Mayors/High Councillors & Gamemakers.

• Victors/Tributes - These characters can only be obtained if they have been reaped in one of the site run hunger games. Victors must have won a current/retro games. No past tributes (before the 54th) can be created unless they were reaped in a retro games.
• Tribute/Victor relatives - any relative of a past/current tribute/victor can only be written if permission has been granted by that character’s writer. Any relatives of past games that have not occurred yet cannot be written as these will eventually have tributes/victors written by site members.
• Stylists/Escorts - These types of characters are only available to those who have won the MVP title from each games or the site's annual MVP.
• Mayors/High Councilors - Characters who wish to become mayors/high councillors must enter the elections that are run every quarter quell (games ending in 0/5).
• Gamemakers - Only staff members that are running one of the site’s games can write gamemakers.

4. How often do the games happen?
The games are run 3 times in one real life calendar year. They usually run for 3 months with a 1 month break in between for other site events to occur such as retro games and Ratmas. We hold a quell every five games, all of which have different twists too them such as reaping or arena twists. 

5. How do I enter the games?
Games can be entered via the warehouse whenever there is a reaping/activity check. An activity/reaping check thread will be posted by a librarian around 2 weeks before the check closes in the notice board.

6. Do I only need one account or multiple accounts?
You only need one account. This can be used to write multiple characters. There is no hard limit to how many characters you can create but it is always best to only write as many as you can handle!

7. Where can I write my character?
Once your character is accepted. You are free to write them in corresponding District/Capitol boards as well as the other areas available to write in such as the Detention center.
To request threads with other members you can post your request in the Character Plots board or in the Slack channel #Threading.

8. Are there any other site events besides the games?
Yes there are multiple IC and OOC events run throughout the year such as Ratmas, Retro games and Panem site-wide IC events like the highland games and rose plague.

9. I'm having trouble finding a face claim that isn't taken/can face claims be shared?
They can be shared but you must request permission from the original claimer.

10. The cbox is not very active, where does the community communicate?
Slack is our most commonly used communication tool and we also have a discord that you can join.
