Mother came to say goodbye. I folded my arms and pretended I did not hear a word that came out of that backstabbing bitch’s mouth. She cried her tears and apologized. She plead for me to say something, she acted as if I was already dead. If anything, she was dead to me. I guess I’ll have to win this whole damn thing just so I could come back and spit on the very foundations of our family.
Family first. Yeah fucking right.
A few others came to say goodbye and wish me their best of luck. Some I entertained; others were also met with the silent treatment. There were no words to describe the utter betrayal I felt in that moment. I knew that if I showed even a sliver of weakness, they would know the decision not to protect me this year was correct. I wanted nothing more than for them to regret their choices and eat their words.
When the last of the hypocrites filed out of the justice building, I was ever so kindly escorted out towards the train. Throughout the entire time since I graced the stage, my eyes shot daggers. Oh, if only looks could kill, these games would be like stealing candy from a baby.
The train was a joke, I always assumed the tributes were treated only to most luxurious luxuries the capitol could offer. What I was met with was slightly above average at best. Only a seven out of ten on Panem reviews. Do not recommend. Along with me was my district partner, Larissa Le Roux, a last name well known in the district. Larissa herself, never heard of her. I also did not associate myself with her kind, careers, unless it was business. Careers were always good for business. Stupid rich kids looking to take an edge off, easy targets to scam and pocket the extra cash.
I pulled out a chair on the left end of the large mahogany table and sat myself down. Kicking my feet up on the table. My 7-inch stiletto boots slamming on the table for dramatic effect. I let my upper body lean backwards over the chair staring at the ceiling as I let out a less than enthusiastic sigh. Shortly after, I sat myself upright as I gave Larissa a quick scan with my eyes. My face remaining in an angry scowl as I tried to get a read on little miss volunteer Le Roux.
”Hmm” I scoffed in her direction as I folded my arms. She did not seem like anyone worth my while.
