Vallen WatkinsIts still mind blowing, being inside the Capitol. All the rooms are incredible, and at this moment, Vallen wants nothing more than to take them all in. It's hard to know where life will take him, but right now, figuring out his purpose, and whether or not his dreams are already fulfilled is going to be challenging. It's why he constantly sits at the trapping station working on tiny robots instead of trying to train for the actual combat portion of the game. Survival is also important, but he doesn't exactly care about any of those things. Sooner or later, he's going to die, and if his death is one of the more painful moments of the game, Vallen will find peace with it.
Not that it matters, though, because right now his heart is content. Batteries and wires and everything his heart can desire sits right before him, and his hands work freely and with ease. At first nothing is working, and no matter how many times he wires something a different way, nothing is happening, and it's starting to upset him. These are the things he had to use for his very first robot, and it's hard to focus on what's going on around him.
"Vallen, you need to leave your room so you can spend time with us. Those wires and batteries will never amount to anything."
Mother never understood, and even now that she's witnessed him winning several robotics competitions, she still thought it was nothing special. Maybe that's the truth. Maybe everything he thought he knew was nothing more than a lie. So much time has been put into creating masterpieces, and now nothing will ever come of them as he prepares to venture into the arena. Maybe school would fix it, maybe paying more attention in classes, maybe something else, but nothing will ever change the past.
Shaking his head, he gets back to work. This time he uses different hooking maneuvers to attach the wire to the battery, and this time using a couple more batteries created the path he needed, and a light bulb lights up. It's nothing special, but at least it gives him something to do here, and who knows, maybe he can build a complete robot before entering the arena so that everyone who knows him will have something to remember him by.
